I figured it out!! So I got a comment that I was too noisy and that my energy was elevated..... but I have calmed down alot over the years.... this is the horse that would paw, charge, and run me over..... so I am really happy to have a relationship with him at all.... :) I'm sure everyone can find something to have us improve on, we are just happy to be HERE and are working on ourselves every day... :)

Gee Jennifer, I don't know how many whorls I have...probably 6 or 8 I like looking back at my videos of Cash to see where we have progressed. They also help me to progress. In the very beginning I watched one of me riding and I was scared stiff. After watching myself I decided I was either going to 'get over it' or quit and quitting was not an option. It did help a lot. When I'm feeling sad or can't sleep, I'll watch them and enjoy. That usually gets me relaxed to fall asleep
There is several Jennifer Lamm's on Facebook and I don't know which is you.
Tonight I did ground work/play with Cash. He was in a lovey calm mood and stuck close. I camew home in a much better mood then when I left. I wasn't in a bad mood...just tired. Speaking of tired it's nearly 1 here and I think I'll go to bed.
Enjoy the rest of your week-end. Be Happy!!

Hey Shirley, every day is an opportunity..... some people think Rome can be built in a day, but not with my horse..... geez, every day he needs time..... my trainer came over last night and we were all three walking in a line to go back to the gate me, Oliver, Steve, shoulder to shoulder and he stopped when I stopped and he turned with me away from Steve, so he listened.. and I was asking with barn twine... :) that is a soft, sweet horse.... but he's 2 people... maybe like you Shirley... :) he does not have a consistent mood at all..... and he has two whorls.. how many do you have? My friend lost her 27 year old horse and she didn't have any video of him... I made the tape of Toby just so I'd have it of him moving... :) eventhough I'm sure he'll live to be 40.

Oh, I'm pretty sure I've seen your video then If it's not much with Oliver. When I'm rich I'll fly out and tape all of ya for you.
I did ride Cash today in the indoor. Cash took a while to get in a good mood about that. He'd rathr be outside but I need the time in the saddle so he needs to be patient a little longer till we can get outside again. I could tolerate some of the cold temps but not the slippery footing with the ice under the snow. I just had a thought though, I could probably ride him in the pasture, It was just crusty today and I think I'd have felt fairly secure. My comfort level seems to depend too much on my hormone levels. Cash probably thinks I am a twin person. One day I show up all tense and nervous and the next I'm calm with most things. But I'm consistantly good to him.
Having someone watching does seem to be a sure way to get our horses distracted so they won't pay enough attention to us but with more time that should improve. Right?
Have a great week-end! Enjoy!

actually my video is of the amazing Toby who thinks he is a Lippazaner Stallion... and Oiver is holding up the person that is video taping... he has a small part, LOL.... my name on Facebook is Jennifer Lamm.....

Today Oliver and I were trying to show off for my gardener... and we were trying a figure eight, shoulder to shoulder, which is really fun to practice because of inside and outside turns. My gardener said, Oh, look, he doesn't want to do it, and I said, he's distracted by you... let's keep trying...... eventually, I got Olivers attention... now that kind of stuff is something you can do in any size arena or pasture... relationship, body language and stuff can always be worked on..... by the time Oliver and I got our groove on and were doing our patterns, Juan was long gone and bored, LOL..... I wish I had more than an hour a day to spend with my horse.... he is really getting fun(ner) by the minute.... :)

I think we are friends on Facebook. I'll see if I can see your video on there. What is your Facebook name in case we aren't already friends. I'm thinking Jesse sent me your way. I'll check now. It'll be fun to see you and Oliver in action.

Oh Shirley, Hi!! You and Cash are having fun..... I bet he loves following you around and doing the patterns... Oliver seems to be very into it like he's really concentrating... my video is bugging me because no, it won't load.... it is on Facebook but it won't load to photobucket or here.... :( my sister in law doesn't know anything about horses and we were doing our tricks and she got that he was listening and we were communicating, so other people might get what you and cash are doing... I call it "getting the feel of my horse"... which everyone could probably have fun practicing and that when we are in sync on the ground it will be time to climb on. I am glad I don't need to hurry.... cuz for me it's about me and the horses getting along, and nothing else really matters..... :)

Hi Jen, It's been a while. I've just been spending way too much time on the computer and have been trying to reduce that.
Cash does not feel like I'm being a predator to him. He will come to me from the pasture when I arrive at the gate. He's funny cause sometimes he'll mosey up and stop to pee and poop and then get a drink of water and then we'll play. Not always, but when he does I get a big kick out of it.
Cash will follow me around as you are describing. I love it! We have gotten to the point where we can just walk along together, stop, trot, back and side-pass. We can do the different patterns that you mentioned. At first it surprised me how quickly he learns the patterns. HE loves to put his front feet up on his mounting block/piece of log which makes him seem much taller...just like a man! You can never have too many toys! When we are riding I like to go after an exercise ball and Cash will do it but I think I have more fun with that game then he does. Maybe it'll grow on him. Sometimes he wants to try to climb on the ball which is funny to watch but not so funny when I'm on his back cause it feels like we're gonna fall. Not likely that we'd fall but it still feels like it and scares me. Just today I got a 6 in. ball with a handle for him so tomorrow I'll see what he thinks of that. I'd like to try to do some polo type stuff , maybe I can find a plastic bat for my polo stick. We have some young girls at the barn now and I'm thinking they can probably show me some Pony-Club games which I never participated in as a kid---sounds fun to me. Love to hear them giggling rather then the serious dressage but most of them do that too. I'll have to skip the games where they emergency dismount and then have to quickly jump back on but it's fun to watch them do that stuff. Lately when I've been trying to get him to go out from me to do the circling or lunging, he will start side-passing rather then heading out to the circle. So far I've been laughing with him but I may come to regret that If he starts ALWAYS doing that instead of circling. We'll figure that out~~We're just having fun. Sounds like you are having fun with your guys too. The other day I showed a lady at the barn (who does dressage) what Cash and I were doing when I had him weaving in and out of the cones on the loose lead line. We went back and forth thru 5 cones and she said, "oh, you're doing tricks" I thought it was sad that she doesn't see the bigger picture that there is communication going on too. Lots of it.
I hope you will be able to get your videos loaded on here.I have one loaded that is of us riding. Most of the videos I do on the video camera which I don't know how to load. I'll have to do some more on my regular digital camera cause putting the videos on from there are quite easy.
Be happpy while you're horsen around!

another thing...... is that your horse will generally WANT to join up with you if you are doing non predatory moves like Chris Irwin and Pony Boy and my trainer teach....... walk in a big circle until you go all the way around the horse. When you get the eyes and ears, that's joining up... also, if you do serpentines, figure eights and stuff you should prove to be interesting and non threatening and he may begin to follow and engage.... Oliver and I have toys I throw to him, I push him from the rear, working up to lunging and speed control, and following and Toby and I do alot of liberty lunging.... I'm trying to show a video but it won't load... I'm going to try one more time....

:)
