I think this is the third time in a week someone has recommended Mark Rashids books. I haven't read any yet but from the word of mouth I'm hearing, I'll be getting some of his writings soon. So much to read and learn!!!!

Have any of you read Mark Rashid's books? I just finished reading Life Lessons from a Ranch Horse. Would recommend to anyone looking to better their relationship with their horses. Great insight on human nature!

I agree 100% I do find that his way isn't the only way and may work great with one horse and not another. I have this issue going on. I use what ever works easiest with the least amount of resistance from my horses. That is what is truly right. That way I don't get frustrated and my horse gets the message load and clear. I don't think perelli says my way is the only way. They just want to help.

Hi everyone,
Ok here's my opinion on Parelli...its brilliant for some things, especially when teaching horsemanship to others, however I find a lot of it is more about how to handle things like the carrot stick, and where to put pressure, until the horse responds. It obviously works on a pressure release system, as horses understand that. However I find that too many people follow it religiously rather than looking at more than one form of horsemanship, and combining them. While also simply experimenting tp find what your horse enjoys and responds too and understands best.

I know that when i started it I went by the book, and for me it was a great introduction to horsemanship, but I do feel there is more out there, and you cannot swear by one person's teachings alone.

Hi all Parelli fans, made it to Dayspring Ranch near Merritt, BC. This is a marvelous 600 acre equine paradise. We are holding a Level 1 and 2 Parelli clinic on August 14-17, 2009 with 3 Star instructor Fawn Anderson (see pnhclinics@yahoo.com) Also looking at having a 2 Star instructor here from June through September if anyone is interested in partaking of this opportunity. There is an impressive log lodge with private rooms with attached bathroom for humans, and paddocks, pastures and a 17 stall barn with all the trappings for your horses. Also lots of trails to ride. We are 3 hours from Vancouver and about 2 1/2 from Kelowna. If you or anyone you know would like to join us over the summer please let me know.
Hope to see you,
Cheryl

Hi, I have just accepted a ranch managers position in Princeton, BC. The folks I will be working for are Parelli advocates. We are holding a Parelli clinic at the ranch in August of this year. Not sure of exact dates yet, but am moving to the ranch on April 20th so once I am settled I will update information here in the event some of you may be interested in attending. The facility is fantastic! I cannot say enough good about it. Will talk with you soon.

Hi, My world totally changed when I started the Parelli programme and gee I'm so happy I knew it before I knew my horse Sahara. She has a pretty complicated horsenatlity and if I were normal I'd be dead. She is a Left Brain Extrovert/Introvert combination with a Right Brain Extrovert/Introvert combination rolled into it. She changes horsenality so fast, she definatly keeps me on my toes. I love it!
Love horses, love life!
