I have a baby brother! Last night my mom gave birth to a chestnut colt! :) He looks a lot like my sister... except he has a star instead of a blaze.

My experience with endurance is patiently waiting for my mom to get with the dressage program. Yesterday I think we may have had a break through ... we'll see how much carries over into today.

No extra grooming yesterday ... mom tells me it'll be Wednesday ... she also says there's a threat of rain for Saturday so the shoot may not even happen :-( ... I'll have to talk to the birds and see if they can tell the sky to hold off til Sunday with the wet stuff.

That's exciting to hear about a new sibling for you, Nocturnis. I never see mine ... there'll all in Germany with mama and papa. I hear my father is very handsome and my mother very beautiful. I figure there must be truth to that when I see my reflection in the side of a parked car in the driveway as I walk by. ;-)

Hey, I'm going to the Canadian endurance competition (those outrides turned out 2 be practice for it!) I had no idea. It's on Monday, I think! Is any of u coming? It would be cool 2 play in the paddocks together at night... sometimes over night in forein countries at shows I escape from my paddock and graze next to my humans tent!

Thanks Bear! I am three years old today! I got a shiny new bit for my birthday. I like it far more than my old bit... my old bit had a plastic coating. *blech!* The humans said that it was 'apple scented'... if it was, it sure didn't TASTE like apples. My new bit is nice smooth steel with a tasty copper centre link, and it has TWO joints so my human and I are now communicating even better. I held the bit and wouldn't let it go when the humans were trying it on me... I just wanted to let them know that I really wanted to keep THAT bit. They got the message... they are learning! :)

My mom is due to have a foal any day now. The humans thought that maybe she was going to give me a new brother or sister for my birthday, but so far she is still holding out. The humans keep checking on her every few hours... I think that she is going to wait until the humans are silly with exhaustion before she foals! *snicker snort*

Bear, I'm glad that your mom doesn't pull your mane... that sounds awful! We Canadians are generally left with full long manes, so thankfully I don't have to worry about that sort of thing. My human will occasionally tidy up the ends of my mane with a blade if we are going to a show, but that's it. I'm sure that you will look quite handsome in your photo shoot... enjoy your extra grooming!

Yes, well done, Firestorm. You must be very proud. Hard work pays off ...

Happy birthday, Nocturnis!! How old are you today?

I had a quiet weekend. Looking forward to spending some time with my mom today as we continue to work on her issues. I don't have any issues, you understand ... I simply do as I'm told and offer my opinion when I feel it's warranted. She doesn't always appreciate that, but sometimes these things need to be said. Judging by the weather I think we'll be working outside, which is nice. No wind blowing, which is even better. I never feel like I'm really going forward with the wind blowing against me.

Mom says a photographer is coming to take my picture on Saturday, so I have the feeling she'll be spending some time this week sprucing me up. I sense a mane trimming ... thankfully she doesn't do that archaic mane-pulling trick humans have been doing forever. She thins and trims using a blade which is much kinder and gentler, and rewards me with treats when I stand still for it. I often wonder how humans would feel if we just started pulling the hair out by the roots from the backs of their necks. So barbaric!!!

Have a great day! snort>>

Congratulations, Firestorm! Mmmm, treats... yummy!

Bear, I hope that your coaching session went well. I had a hooficure on Friday too! I don't wear shoes, but I do enjoy a nice trim. I like my farrier... he always makes sure that my feet look and feel great. After the farrier left, I took my human for a ride in the arena which was fun. We are starting to have longer rides, and we are doing more interesting things, which is good because I was getting quite bored just going in circles.

It is my birthday tomorrow and my human has promised to bring me special treats. One of the fillies had a birthday yesterday, and her human said that she wants to bake a horsey cake so that we can have a birthday party... that would be fun (and tasty!).

I won the finals! I got sooooooooooo many treats and some bran mash! Well done Nocturnis! My human was saying she wanted to do some outrides and lunging 'cos we don't know when the next show is, so we finally get to take it a bit easy! I rolled in the mud the other day and it took my human almost the whole day to clean it all off! She doesn't have much experience at mud! ;D
