My mother's threatening to bathe me. It looks like I might be getting my picture taken next week, so I better lay off the rolling in the mud. Not that I mind being bathed. I like to play with the water when she sprays it on my face ... you know, the gentle spray ... I'll drink from the hose too. I'm a clever boy ;-) But I hope she won't bathe me if it's cool out. I don't want to catch a chill ...

We're having a coaching today which means, of course, that I must work harder, but I don't really mind. I like it when things all come together. My mom works very diligently every day to try to get things right. I cut her some slack most of the time, but really like it when all the little things fall into place and we create magic together. Better than running free, I think sometimes.

But before the coaching even the farrier is coming to give me a hooficure. A nice trim and four brand new shoes today, I think, since last time he was able to reset the last set of shoes. And now, with winter behind us. these old shoes are sooo last season and it's time for a spring set, with snow pads removed, of course. I'm sure my mom won't mind. I'm so worth it. New shoes make my feet look so handsome and Scotty does such a lovely job. I never need to break them in ... they always fit just right. snort>>

Woo, go Bear! Getting fully coated in mud is fun, and it feels especially great now that the flies are starting to come out. It's also a great way to get extra scratches and keep your human busy. I had a good roll recently... I even got mud under my halter and in my ears. That puzzled my human... and got me a really nice grooming (ie. extra attention). :)

I hope that your mom appreciated the extra effort that you put into giving her something to do... and that she rewarded you with treats!

Looking forward to a lovely workout outside today.

Can hardly wait for my mom to come to the barn. I'm going to be blanket-free in the paddock this morning and might roll in the mud just to get some extra grooming time. I'm sure she has nothing better to do ... snort!>>

I took my human around the arena again today! I know that she is trying to tell me where she wants to go, and usually I can tell what she wants... but sometimes I'm not quite sure what she is asking and I have to concentrate really, really hard to figure it out (mostly because I am already quite busy thinking about the fact that she is in the saddle). I do think that with practice we will be in sync and then the fun will really start! :)

My human and I play on the lunge line too. It's OK, but I prefer it when we play on long-lines because then we do things that are more fun. I really like it when my human sets up obstacles, poles and jumps... it's far more interesting than just going in circles! I think that jumping is a lot of fun... my human wants us to do dressage, but I keep telling her that we need to jump too.

My human was lungeing me today! It was fun, I still got to jump! I've got the show jumping finals tomorrow and I'm looking quite smart now. It is against me and Eagle! Wish me luck!

Thanks Bear! My bridle was made by Brubacher's Harness Supplies & Tack Shop. Your saddle sounds wonderful! I don't have my own saddle yet because I am still growing, but the person who introduced my parents (the humans call her a breeder, I think that means horsey dating service) has a spare saddle that fits me and I am using it to train my human. I do hope to get a nice saddle of my own someday.

It sounds like you had a nice workout today... it is amazing how much you can teach your human at a walk, isn't it?! I think that we'll be walking for a little bit as I want to make sure that my human is balanced before we go faster. It is funny how the humans talk about me needing to find my balance under saddle... *snort* my balance is just fine... we-e-ell, except for the fact that when I grow my legs never seem to be where I expect. ;)

Hope .., this is a question you may want to ask a human. Good luck with your search.

Flashy bridle there, Nocturnis! Looks very handsome on you indeed. Who made it for you? Mom won a custom saddle for me at a silent auction last year and it has made a world of difference in the way I move under saddle. My shoulders move much more freely which really allows me to use my back and hindquarters more effectively. I enjoy my work a lot more and so does my mom.

Today we took it easy ... Did lots of work at the walk ... It was still a pretty good workout ... :-)

I am going to get a games pony and I don't know what size pony I should get. I am 5' 1" and am 12 years old. I would use the pony for eventing, games and trail riding:)

I'm quite sturdy but my human still worries because Picadilly told me she had a horse that used to gallop round and one day a bird flew at him while he was bucking and he swerved and broke his leg. The had to put him down... sadly. So I don't blame her!
