I like galloping round the field when my owner catches me, then when she finally catches me, I toss my head up and pull away. High tailed, I prance across the field at a nice, smooth trot. Then as she gives up I go over 2 her and she grabs my reins and jumps on me.

I have totally loved working outside again. There's more spring in my step and, miracle of miracles, the canter transitions are coming about much better for my mom too (though they're still a little sticky). I didn't realize that humans could get arena sour too!!!

But, alas, today we must return indoors. The footing will be too wet outside once again. Nevermind, the last few days have been a taste of happy outdoor schooling days to come.

Have a good one!

The weather certainly has been wonderful lately! All of the muddy spots on the farm have been drying nicely, and so I have been able to take my human for a nice long walk through the back pastures every day this week!

You folks seem to really enjoy hacking with your humans... I think that it's time to start teaching my human how to communicate with me from my back. I have seen my paddock buddies carrying her, so I think that she has the hang of being on horse... that should make things easier... I hope! ;)

My registered name is "Shakespeare" (and I do write poetry too!). Thankfully my mother has only resorted to "Bear," "Mr. Bear," "Bear Bear" and "Handsome." (I think I heard "Twitball" once when I was being particularly silly.)

On anothr note ... I was brilliant today during our first ride outdoors today. It was so nice to be out of the arena and be able to let fly in the sand ring. I felt like a completely new horse!!! For a bit there I was doing a trot that would make a Grand Prix horse jealous! And even the canter was splendid. Mom really was on today. We went for a short hack to finish, both of us very happy. :-)

Although... my human call call me whatever she wants as long as she continues to bring me treats and give me ear scratches and tell me how very handsome I am.

Humans may seem silly at times, but they are nice companions... and it is great fun trying to figure them out!

Does everyone else's human tend to call them by silly little 'pet names'? My paddock buddies and I have noticed that our humans do not call us by the elegant horse names that we naturally have, but rather they give us complicated show names that are humorous to a human, or short (often monosyllabic) 'barn' names.

"Squirt" *snort* How on earth did my human come up with that name? I am Lord Nocturnis LeNoir, prince among dark horses. I am certainly not a 'Squirt'!

Hey Risky! You are one brave girl and are to be commended for taking the chance to trust again. That can be a 'risky' business ;-) but I can see that you are a strong gal and the risk is certainly worth all the reward. Get your mom to give you a carrot from me ... :-)

Hey All...I am Risky a 12 yr. old Quarter Horse mare.I am 14:3 h.h. and a chestnut.
I love my humane dearly as she saved my life,took the time to understand me and gain my trust.I have been given a second chance and am blossoming!When i was barely two I was broken in to the saddle,my tender mouth ruined by a cruel bit and ridden till i nearly dropped.I did everything out of fear,not love or trust.Each time I flinched or did the slightest thing wrong,my cruel owner beat me with anything that was handy....the last thing he used was a 2x4.
I stood misserably in a group of horses ready to head for slaughter until I caught the eye of my now humane.She took me home and for weeks just talked to me,gently running her hands over my beaten body.Then came the wonderful massages and I learned to not fear the hands that now touched me.Our trust and love for eachother continues to grow and i have come a long way,but most of all i have come home

Thank you for having me here...you all seem like a great bunch...{{{{nicker}}} {{{nicker}}}}

Beware horses, I have seen a large rabbit lurking in the human-yard. He had a basket full of eggs, so I fear that he has already stolen from the hens. Take care to guard your carrots... this rabbit seems to be planning something big this weekend!
