Hi there! I've been having some fun trick training a young pintabian gelding I've been working with for a few months.  So far he's got a wave, lay down, and lay flat, sit, bow both ways (between front legs and one knee bent), spanish walk (well it's kind of weak but we've only been doing that one for two weeks) but I'm really looking forward to starting some pedistle work.  Do you have any tips on building one?  Right now I'm just going to build one for just his front end, so not so big.

Thanks much!!

Hello everyone. I am always looking for other ways to play with my horses being I am getting to old to ride. This group sounds interesting. I recently saw a lady get her horse to bow using that same method.

Hello Katalina, VERY late reply hehe, start by asking your horse to stand square, hold a treat between his front legs, gradually so he gets used to the idea, as he gets the hang of it slowly move your hand further back (not lower) he will gradually rock his weight into his hind legs. As he gets the hang of this, ask for the same thing and ask for his leg to come up, gradually move treat and leg back, DONT FORCE OR PULL, just support it, after a while when he rocks his weight back he will gain the confidence to have his knee closer to the floor. Always stretch him and warm him up before hand. Every effort should be rewarded!
