Thank you so much Marlene!!! I like the hands off, liberty method, it is there for all to see how much trust there is, and when the horse no longer wants to play he's free to walk off, which means tricks etc don't get overdone :) glad you…

Great demo Ayesha. This is almost exactly how I taught my guy to bow, no stress, he enjoys it. kind of like pilates for horses! I agree with your opinion about tack adding unnecessary stress and risk to the exercise and using a mostly hands off…

Some people are very weird with what they consider to be 'praise' I often cringe when I see a horse that's done a massive jumping course, sweaty hot and cleared the whole thing and you see the rider patting the horse so hard it's…

Another weird thing about him is this. I always tell him he's a good boy when he performs correctly, and scratch or treat, but when I first got him he would actually flinch when I said "good boy" or tried to rub, scratch…

Thanks Ayesha, I am definitely tuned. My guy does realize I am (sometimes) a "vending machine". And I have learned from dog training and working with him how to  avoid getting mugged for treats. I have taught Sharif to come to my…

Glad you all enjoyed it. Marlene the key to clicker training is first of all teaching the horse that the click is followed by a reward. You don't have to own a clicker, a key word or a click of the tongue will do, first of all you teach the…

Thanks for this. I've been wanting to teach my guy to pick up things but wasn't sure how to do it. He works well for treats, but I should learn clicker training. Do you click and treat at the same time?

A Bit About Me and my Horse(s)
Hi, my name is Ayesha. I study and use various Natural Horsemanship techniques blend them alltogether to create my own unique training methods. I mainly use, clicker, and intelligent horsemanship methods and find them to work extremely well.

My main horse Navara is a Hanoverian X Thoroughbred and I am looking to be experimenting with crazy riding, tricks etc with her. We have already learned, targetting, spanish walk, piaffe, ball cames, copycatting etc and cant wait to do more.

Navara is currently off work due to a back injury that had to be rectified she is on the mend though!

Vote for Navara

Can I be super cheeky!?!

Navara as we know is one of those poor horses who is always covered in pink. When I got her she had never had any items that belonged to her, had never had anything specially bought for her and her headcollar was moth eaten and had rust on it, so I always think that she should be made to feel 1 million dollars she has the most expensive grooming… Continue

Why don't people seem to want a relationship with their horse?

Posted on August 2, 2010 at 8:00am 17 Comments

I have noticed this a lot recently, I don't know if it is me looking at the world through adults eyes, or whether it is just becoming more and more common, that so many people are buying and riding horses as they would buy and drive a car, let me elaborate.

My mare Navara, I have had since November, and have barely ridden her because I feel her confidence and ability to cope mentally with being ridden is not as high as it should be, she is receiving reiki, and is also having a… Continue

Awww I just saw some of your videos!! I have to get back and watch more of them when people are not a sleep- so I can listen to the beautiful music you have on too! You look like doing great!!! Wonderful to see how fun you have! But remeber that even when you have a full riden bareback/brídeless horse it's always good to get back to "normal" riding now and them! :D

Thank you! I will try it very cautiously with the senior mare I ride. She is Arab Lipizanner cross and sometimes raises her leg when she is impatient for something! So cute! She is also very smart and sometimes guesses what you want if communication is unclear so I will be careful! So does mostly beginner lessons because she is around 30 - I am the only more advanced rider - so I think she gets bored :( I try to make life as fun for her as she makes my life :):)
