Amy, I have dealt with lots of abscesses and this is what I was told: most abscesses are caused by injuries or bacteria getting into a wound and the wound healing trapping a tiny piece of this bacteria. It can be a microscopic piece of dirt or wood, a tiny splinter caught inside the wound then the wound heals. These also travel and then come out in an abscess usually around the coronary band or out the bottom of the hoof or somewhere on the lower leg. They will fester and burst after some time if left alone or you can keep it clean and wrap it using Animal Lintex under the wraps to help suck out whatever is in there. When they burst it is best to keep them clean anyway to help in the healing. The homeopathic remedy Ledum helps the body to drive out splinters, also Arnica for any pain and to promote healing. Having "so many" abscesses tells me this horse got into something which punctured it's skin allowing bacteria to get in and it's body is driving it out. This is a good thing, so don't worry just go with the process. I would suggest looking online for more information.

Both of those are great stories. Mine is not exactly the same, but close.

My Mom had an old 26 year old thoroughbred gelding with a liver infection, and although he and we all tried as hard as we could he couldn't get any better. Finally he had to be put down, but I guess God needed him in heaven or else he wouldn't have taken him from us.

A few months later, I found an ad for Blue on a website. She was 4 1/2 years old, and completely green. She was the first horse we looked at, but we decided to get her. She was not trained English or Western, as we would find out, and had biting and kicking problems, especially when being saddled.

Now Blue has been shown English and Western, has done Competitive Trail Riding and Endurance Racing, and is currently being trained at first level dressage.

That's a great story!!! Mine is very similar. In spring of 06, my parents deicided to get me a horse. It was mostly because they realised one day that I had been riding my stick horse around the yard, over a jumping course I had made of buckets and sticks-and I was also talking to it- at the age of, yes, I know it's crazy, 12. We stared looking for a horse that month(I think it ws March-ish?).

The first horse was right a way a no, as she was mostly green, and the owners did not want me to 'test' ride her. Then we looked at three more. One was a cowboy with two horses that he was going to sell together. One a mare, the other a gelding. I rode the gelding(with the cowboy leading me because these horses also were pretty young and had not been riden in a really lond time) and I was almost bucked off many times in the 10-15 minutes that I was on. My dad also knew the cowboy before so he was all for it. But I had the final say and said "no". The other horse was an older gray lesson gelding that was quite the pig and a real pain in a canter( The lady also wanted WAY to much for him!!)Then we found Laura.

She was pretty, calm, sweet, gental, she jumped, she did english and western-she was perfect! I rode her and loved her. It was all set, we would come in a week, with a trailer and a vet to get an "all's good" and I would have the horse I had always wanted. But no, God had other plans. We came the next week, with the trailer and my mom's ceck book, and the vet met us there. We all waited as the vet did her thing. Only about five minutes had gone by we she looked up and said, "I'm really sorry, but she's lame." I did not cry until I was in our truck, driving away, with out my horse, and an emty horse trailer. I cried realy hard too. We got back to the trailer rental place and the sales man( who is a pretty good friend of my dad's) look really confused. My dad told him the story. The sales man opened the back door and looked at me and said, " God has something better in mind for you." And he sure did!!!

In may of 06, we found Nazelli through one of our workers. We went out to see her and it ws love at first sight. Nazelli was a 4 year old chestnut mare with a blaze. Her owner had to sell her because she was pregnet. I got on her, and she was a brat!! she would not go faster than a trot, she would not back up, she would not listen to me, but at the end of my ride I was smiling so big, my dad just looked at me and said, "so, I think this is the one!" We bought Nazelli a week later and she has been mine and only mine every since!!! Yes we had to do A LOT of training, but it has all paid off as today she jumps, leg yeilds, can do a walk/canter tranision and sooo much more!!! Nazelli is my angel, and she is SOOO much better than Laura ever was!!!!!

Remember, God is in controle of everthing, He loves you and never give up hope, as God has a much bigger plan for you then you can every imagine!!!!! ~._=/> Smile! God loves you!!!

Hi ladies!

It is really nice to have a network of Christian riders/horse admirers. I have very few horse friends around me, never mind Christian horse friends! But as Cindy said, Jesus is always riding with me :o)

I bought my horse a little over a year ago. I first saw her for sale on the breeder's website in 2006, as a four-year old. I emailed the breeders and stayed in touch with them. I met my horse in May of 2007 and wanted to take her home right there and then, but just couldn't afford a horse at the time. I wasn't in a rush for a horse, so I took my time looking for just the right one, while I waited until I had enough money to buy one. I looked at quite a few horses, and in looking at lineage, it appeared as though I was attracted to a certain line. All roads kept leading me back to my horse. In the summer of 2007 I spent the afternoon at the breeder's, working with my horse (who still wasn't my horse yet!). After praying about it since the day I saw her on the website, I was sure that she was the one meant for me. However, I did want to keep looking at horses, in case God did had another one in mind. I went to see an older mare that same summer, but as nice as she was, I just didn't feel at peace. I found out later that that mare is my horse's great grandmother!!

All this time of my chasing around looking at other horses, my horse remained for sale, with only a few people showing interest in her. The breeders were very fussy about who bought her, and did turn down a couple of offers on her because they weren't comfortable with the potential buyers.

I went back to the breeder's to see my horse one more time in Feb. of 2008. After that, my husband and I decided that I'd better buy her before it was too late. We had decided one weekend that I'd contact the breeder on Monday to let her know that I was going to buy my horse. On the Sunday, the breeder contacted me, letting me know that someone else had shown interest in my horse, and was willing to buy her sight unseen. This buyer already bought a mare from them, by the same sire, and loved her so much that they were willing to buy any offspring from the same stallion. Of course I let her know that I wanted her!!! All this time of being for sale, and the weekend that we decide to take her, someone else is willing to buy her just like "that". It was all God's timing. We were waiting for our tax return to come in, and it arrived the next day! God is just so good in how He provides for us in every aspect of life.

I don't know how my message turned into the story of how God brought my horse and me together :o) Sorry if I am being long-winded.

Greetings from Southern Oregon! Every moment that I spend with my horses shows me the awe of our Most High God, His Majesty, His Kindness, His Gentleness, His sense of humor, and deeply loving heart. I am saved by the Grace of Jesus Christ and am honored to share and read what the Lord has done for us through horses with you! May you prosper in everything you do giving credit to He who gave us the ability to do it.

Hey everyone good to see there are more christian ladies out there who love horses. It can be a lonely road sometimes but truthfully Jesus is riding with me always.
