Five Star Ranch is a great place to ride with lots of clinics and Canadian horses. In April 2010, I attended a Josh Lyons clinic and followed up with a lunging clinic in June that I want to do again in the Fall. Groundwork is really helpful when le…

This page is dedicated to watching the mares on Mare Stare, starting with the mini mares at Mulligans Run Farm. But be warned....it is highly addictive.

Profile Information

About Me:
How did I become interested in Canadian horses?

In 2006, I read a fascinating article in the newspaper about www.RandyBird.ca who rescued about 10 Mustang horses from Western USA and brought them to his equine training school in Harwood, Ontario, about an hour east of Toronto. I visited these wild Mustangs many times and seemed to make a connection with the herd leader.

To learn more about horses and people, since 2008 I have volunteered once a week at a therapeutic riding program, www.CARD.ca in Toronto. Also, I have attended horse shows in Uxbridge, London, Guelph, and Toronto, Ontario and Ocala, Florida.

In addition, I have read about 10 books about Canadian Horses and visited the Canadian horse, O'Mark and Newfoundland Pony, Juno, that were featured on the Canadian stamp.

In 2009, I started riding a 10-year old, well-trained, part-Canadian mare named Fraxi at www.CountryHillFarm.ca near Stouffville, Ontario. Then, Fraxi moved back to Nova Scotia and I rode Gabe, a 20-something Haflinger pony. While on vacation in Bradenton, Florida this summer I am riding a 12-year old Morgan mare, Savannah, that is very similar to a Canadian -- well trained, about 15 hands, calm, bay color with a black, flowing mane. Also, I went swimming with horses at www.BeachHorses.com near the Gulf of Mexico.

Life doesn't get much better than that!

Hi Benjamin, I don't add the event listings, my members do. The person who added that one is the only person who can change those dates. Stay warm! :)

The late medieval nobility turned dressage into a sport by giving public demonstrations of "horse ballets" to wow the commoners during public celebrations. They would do airs above the ground as well as movements on the ground. The late medieval kni…

There are horses that do not think the little fences are worth worrying about. Are you lungeing him over the jumps just in a cavesson, or are you using side reins too? Do you lunge over jumps with a saddle on? Do not use side reins (I am not saying…

Where did I state that medival dressage was humane and correct? I have stipulated that the SRS under Podhajsky presented dressage more correctly. I know who Kottas is and he is not a horseman! Podhajsky was a horseman and even General Patton was a h…

Hi Guys,One of the biggest mistakes riders make when we're trying to overcome horseback riding fears is that we direct our efforts toward the conscious mind. You know--willpower, iron-jawed determination. The problem with that strategy is that you c…
