Skinny Dipping Anyone?

Well, you never know what you will run into on a trail ride anymore.....a few days back, the weather was nice and I had finished early with my farm chores ,training,so before going home I thought,I am going to saddle up my QH mare Risky and go for a nice ride along the river on my friend's farm.

It was wonderful being out on my favorite horse, slight breeze, sun shining, birds singing.Great day to be alive...just my horse and…

Thanks for helping me out about Hilltop, that's great of you :)! Also once you said rescue horses you had my attention... You have no idea how many times I have come between horses and abuse... in the STB world that happens daily... it gave me a bad rep for a 'do gooder' but such is life...

If you know stbs, than you will know both sides of his family... we were lucky enough to stay at Joe Stutzman's place for a few months, and as you might of know Gallo stayed there when he was in Canada... I got to talk to the people that looked after him here quite a bit, plus the people that watched in horror as some of the people (not all), were really cruel to that great horse! In the states they were good to him we heard, but here their attitude was that he didn't make the money for them! That was their words when one fella stopped the abuse to his mouth by a chain.. Gallo also had attitude, and could be very dangerous until they sent him away at the end of his carreer and now he amuses himself with children... no one to rough him up??? He has mellowed a lot... he too is known to stare off and watch the world around him... very smart and very interested in everything.

Take care.

Hi

Thanks, and yeah I know... about no time! lol I work from 3 to 11 then since I had to race Tattoo on Monday, I switched my days off around so now I work today my day off... went to bed about 1:00am, got up for 7:00, to the barn by 7:45 (at Cerro's, I live in Ingersoll.. so 25 min away... plus we bring water from home... that takes longer than anything else... everyone has a job in the morining... I get the tea, start water, the boys get the water and the truck loaded, then we go, coffee and tea are our breakfast made in travel mugs! Then to the barn, then back by about 1:00 or later to go to work and start all over again... today we took Che to London for the first time... well I guess the second since we bought him from the Forest City Sale two years ago and 1 day... he went well. We have almost stopped with him, but he is an easy keeper so we just go what he can without damaging his foot any more than it is... plus he is a stud and there is no way of turning him out anywhere safely... so we jogg him, and turn him in the paddock, walk him and train lightly about every ten days... We have a plan with his foot, praying it works...

Thanks for the compliments on the big fella... he's something else to be around... tough, regal, a challenge... with teeth, feet and an attitude! He's so arrogant that every horse he meets is in love, and people always want to pet him... which is really dangerous since he only likes us... and he's big and mean enough to make his point well known... He is also very curious about the world, and will stare at anything that interests him until he figures it out... today he watched them move metal around with the big magnet/crane... we couldn't hardly get him to come away... most horses are terrified.... he loved it...

I'll give him a hug if he's in the mood for it ! lol lol, :) if not a carrot will have to do, or an apple or two... he's my pride and joy and I never tire of thinking or talking (lol lol) about him.

Things are going great with an adventure to a friends for a couple weeks! Almost like going on a long trail ride. We've been walking out on her wooded lanes a little more each time. Maybe we'll even ride part of it before we get back to our barn. Today we went all the way to the back of her trails. I love seeing Cash's (and my) confidence grow each trip. Today a couple of the dogs came with us and they were running all around Cash and he was totally calm about it as if he'd been doing it forever. The past few weeks have been very big for us and I feel like we're being successful. Each day we try to do a little more to get more confidence. My friends has been perfect for what I wanted to do. We've been playing in the round-pen and her little play area and setting up the toys in different ways to keep things interesting. Feeling a bit like a kid just doing whatever feels right at the moment. No pressure, no time table. In the furthest part where we were on the trails there is a tunnel of water and there is several trees down. A couple of the trees are down right beside each other with just enough room between for a step to get over them. friend walked thru, I walked thru and then I thought Cash was gonna walk thru and step over, instead he effortlessly jumped them ever so gracefully, beautiful to me. I hope you are having a great time horsen around too. I hope your trails are leading to good things these days. Cheers!!!!

Hi
I see you are from the Ilderton area. You mentioned that you have been around horses all your life, so I'm hoping that you might be able to help me. I'm in Ingersoll right now, and used to live in London. Years ago there was a stable by the name of Hill Top Farm (mainly Dressage, but also they jumped there). It was run by Joe Tower (not sure if I spelled it right or not), he had a wife- Sue and some kids. I did a search but could not find their farm anymore. I was wondering if you were familiar with them, or had heard what had become of them? My best friend of 30+ years had also left the area, but was stabled here for many years and trained under Joe all her young life. I would like to be able to tell my friend and her family what happened to Joe and his farm/family, but have had no luck... thanks Deb

Hi Connie, Thanks for the compliment for my Mr Cash.
I do adore him!
Sounds like you are going through a transition in life.
Those are usually difficult but often necessary. Hope things
look up soon!
Sounds like the new farm is a great place. 16 cats?!
Shouldn't be any mice in that barn!!
Cheers!! Shirley

We with rescueing hearts must all stick together. I'd like to think we are nation-less or should I say 'worldlies"? There must be a word for united in heart and spirit.
Horses know no borders.
