Flashy Draft Cross Mare for Sale
1 Reply

Samba (or Sammie to her friends) is a 16.2 hand, 5 year old draft cross mare, regrettably offered for sale because I am moving out of state, and can't take her with me. Her sire was a registered…Continue

WANTED: Custom Saddlery Revolution (or similar)

I stupidly sold my beloved Custom Saddlery Revolution dressage saddle 2 years ago, and miss it horribly. It was an 18 inch seat, with standard (16 inch) flaps, buffalo leather...just yummy! I can't…Continue

I'm Gumby, Dammit!

They say life is what happens when you make other plans. (I know...there I go quoting "them" again. One day, I'll figure out who "they" are.) Recently, I heard someone comment that dressage is a metaphor for life. It seems Sammie caught wind of the concept, because my grand plans for Sammie's debut into the local dressage show scene have gone to hell in a handbasket.

At the beginning of the year, I vowed to set the dressage world on fire. My… Continue

'Tis the Season

No, it's not Christmas in March. And I'm not even talking about the dressage show season. I suspect my mare-owning friends (at least those situated in the Northern Hemisphere) know exactly what I'm talking about. It's that season.

When mares are in season, life can get interesting. I hear so many stories from friends with mares who become…

My Ride with Jane Savoie

I had a birthday last weekend, and I got the most incredible gift. It was given to me by Sammie, but when I really think about it, the gift was made possible by Jane Savoie. (For those of you who have been living under a rock, Jane is one of the most well-known names in dressage, with a list of accomplishments too numerous to detail here.)

You already know that I have had my share of challenges with…

Lessons Learned

My trainer doesn't know everything. This, of course, is no surprise to her. It came as somewhat of a revelation to me, however. I've become so insecure in my own horsekeeping skills, that somehow I managed to convince myself that those I rely on know it all, and that my own pool of knowledge was more akin to a quickly evaporating puddle.

In our lesson yesterday, Meg and I discussed Sammie's recent training. In mid-December, I handed the reins over to Meg for full…

Yes, that would be me. Humans do come up with the silliest names. I indulge her because it is cute that she thinks that she is training me... but we know the real truth, don't we?! ;)

Heehee. That's my view on belated greetings too. Anyone can celebrate a birthday (or other festive day) ON the day... but a belated celebration serves as both a surprise and an extension of the festivities. ;)

... so Happy Birthweek!!!

Happy Birthday... late, but hey... I AM in a different time zone! ;)

Thanks for the "get well" wishes! :) I am not sure if it is "THE" flu or just "a" flu. With all of the panic regarding a vaccine shortage it would be a bonus if I have gotten "naturally vaccinated" (though I wouldn't recommend this method *cough wheeze sniff*). ;) Ah well, more time to cuddle up with my doggies.

Thanks for your comments on my blog... it is fun to have "met" a kindred spirit! :) I'm sure that once I am battling ice and sleet (and worrying about my horse battling it), I will wish even more to be where you are! *lol*

Thanks! I'm still giddy... but very tired! I think the lad and I need a "pit crew". ;)

Woohoo.! We survived our first show together... trailering and all! Aside from trying to climb out of his stall (or dismantle it), he was a good boy. :) Now I can concentrate on school (already a week behind... yikes!).

Thanks! :) Classes start again next week, so I'm likely to be immersed in assignment writing (*bleh*), but hopefully my wee lad's antics will inspire me to take the time to write something more fun! ;) He certainly seems to be a whinnying comedy routine these days! *lol*

Hi Kelly. Thanks for the friend request! It's great to "meet" another "greenie on a greenie". I'm looking forward to reading more about your adventures with Samba. :)
