Kine R's Blog

A long way to go, but we'll get there in the end!

Lately I haven't been blogging much.

Had a period where we just tried to figure out how to practice the most effective way for our clinic next Saturday.

Well, to be honest, I am not sure if we will be ready to go there. You see, last Tuesday she had her hooves fixed, and had a huge bacterial infection in them. The barefoot trimmer had to dig a little to make it better, but unfortunately she was sore under her legs the day after. And she still is.…

New motivation and a nice horse

Sorry about my lack of blogging lately, but I have been very busy with all kinds of stuff.

I've been feeling very bad since I haven't got all the time for her as I wanted, but I don't think she mind. She's started to stay out all night as well now, so she's just happily grazing with her four other horse friends. Not concerning about if I come or not.

Well, I've felt bad about her for some days now, so I finally kicked my behind into gear and went to the stable (or meadow, as… Continue

More legs and a dirty horse.

I went to the stable late yesterday, and checked her back leg (as I told I would do in the previous blog).

Still not good enough, but no limping and no heat.

Figured out I would just leave it and check more today.

Well, got to the stable today. My horse totally LOVES to roll around in dirt, so this is about what I get every day now:

*LOL* She's so cute, but a total mess every day...

Well, back to leg:…

Swollen foot, no riding.

Yesterday, I went to the stable early (so early, that the horses weren't outside yet).

Hannah and I had plans on a sunny day in the woods with our wonderful horses. Instead I found my horse with a huge and swollen leg.

I am not sure what caused it, but I think it may come from several things.

-We started with new food last Tuesday

-She got her shoes off last Tuesday

-She was inside the whole night, and it might come from too little movement

-She might have…

My first English blog!

As you probably understood, this is my first blog in English.

I write Norwegian horse blog in my "website" (go and have a look, it's all in Norwegian, so have fun!), but if you don't know Norw(egian), you might not have much of a interest of it.

Well, anyway. Here it comes.

Since my horse got her shoes of last Tuesday, her toes look kind of strange. I am currently treating her with some moist products which will kill the bacterial stuff that live in her hoof.…

Awww sounds like that horse is a handful - I'm impressed you're even brave enough to go on! But I guess that's a good start and once you get to know each other a bit better I'm sure she'll behave.

You're so lucky that you're so close to all those fabulous countries!

Last year I spent a lot of my time in London (I love the theater so I saw tons of plays). I also went to Amsterdam, Paris, Nice, Brussels, Dublin, Edinburgh, Tenerife, and Berlin. And in the past I have traveled to Italy. I actually just returned home from a two week trip to Greece! It was absolutely spectacular - each island is so different and there is so much to see, I could have spent another month there! Have you ever been?

That's sounds like a lot of fun - less pressure for you too so you can just enjoy the experience. Are you hoping to compete in the future (after you de-stress your horse)? I'm lucky I get to ride my mom's horse, he's really good natured. I've had some scary experiences with high strung horses before though where they try desperately to throw me off. Hopefully yours isn't like that - and if he is, I'm sure he won't be for long :)

Have you travelled out of Norway at all? I went all around Europe last year but didn't make it to Norway unfortunately. One of my friends stayed there for a year though and said it was beautiful!

Yes, he did have some heat in his leg. When there is an infection, there is usually quite a bit of heat and the swelling doesn't go down with work. When the leg is banged or bruised, the swelling usually goes down with work. How is your horse's leg now?

Your horse looks like a really good girl! I was wondering about that really big machine!:) What kind of riding do you do? I am an occasional rider, but my mom rides and sometimes I get on her horse and do a little walk and trot. I'm a real beginner!
