Linda White commented on Jackie Cochran's blog post 'Natural Born Riders'
Jackie, thank you!  You have written a beautiful inspiring piece that speaks to those of us who love horses and love riding but are, by no means, natural riders.  You are so right - we have to keep trying to get better, for the sake of our…

Linda White replied to KatyM., Community News's discussion 'Spruce Meadows to Salute Hickstead' in the group Barnmice News
It was with great sadness I heard the news of Hickstead's passing.  What a terrible loss for Eric and for all the people who worked daily with that magnificent horse.  We will always be grateful to have witnessed the talent and…

Linda White replied to Standardbred Fan Club's discussion 'is this horse exploitation for profit and fit for national television?' in the group Over 50 crowd
Race horses are bred to run and they move barn to barn via claims races or sales. Some are loved by their owners, and others are kept only if they make money.  As long as the horse is well trained and handled, I don't see why it's…

Linda it sounds like you are stepping into the stirrup instead of holding with the knee and leg. If the pain is frontal ie:groin to foot, not involving the lower back then you might be pushing down to much into the stirrup with your hips tilted…

Hi, Elaine:   I use the ThinLine Ultra half pad on all my horses.  They range in size from 16 hh to 17+hh, and their saddles range from 16.5" to 18".  When I'm using the 16.5" saddles, there's quite a bit of…

A friend has borrowed it to use on his big mare and it fits her.  My Canadian is broad and long in the back and she's good with it.  Greenhawk has other versions but I didn't want the fleece at the front.  Good luck.

Regarding the ultra thinline half pad - I recently purchased one as mentioned by Linda White....I have used it on both my mares, but I can't seem to get the fit right....I am wondering whether there is one strictly for dressage, or perhaps it…

I loaned it to a friend so I don't have it here to look at.  I bought it at Greenhawk Harness (Ontario) and it's actually called a half pad.  They swear it's for the rider's back, but the horse will benefit as it's…

Can you provide more info about the ThinLine Ultra Thin half pad....I found two - one they say is for the horses' back, and the other for the rider....which one did you buy and how much is it?  My saddler has fit my saddle, so I know her…

It probably wouldn't take a huge change in lifestyle. Just randomly taking up more gung-ho activity is not the answer. You will tend to go out and overstress/wrongly use the same muscles that you have already injured, and cause a flare up. More…

Good info, re: the course of the sciatic nerve, Cindy.  My doc doesn't seem to see that connection and I felt like I was being a hypochondriac when I mentioned that pain encompassing my entire leg.  My massage therapist has been…

Kind eye, yes that is true, we had good horses at this facility. Only one was really very snotty and I am sure he's destined to do great things when he grows up. And I don't have any pics of him. I must get some as I still visit him and his mom at his new home sometimes.Hope you are having a great week-end. It's terribly hot and humid here.

HI Linda, Only one of these horses is mine. The rest are all horse friends from the training barn where I was hanging out as much as possible. The barn has recently closed but the trainers are still training at other places. Good for the trainers family but no one else. They were both really good at training and good to the horses so I hated to see some future horses not have them to go to. I was often the last one at the barn at night and like the Waltons show, I liked walking thru the stalls and telling them each good-night. I do miss that.

What lovely horses you have! My little haflinger mare is bred to a jack - so hopefully we will have a nice little mule next year.
