It's been a long time since I've written a blog on here, things have gotten crazy busy, but in a great way.  After a very long winter in Northern Ontario that had all of the residents thinking that maybe, just maybe it would never end, it did.  We still got snow on June 3rd, but it didn't stay!

This is going to be a bit of a personal diary at the same time as hopefully being a bit inspiring to other riders who may be going through the same thing. Firstly, let me start off by talking a bit about myself.  I am 32, going on 33, and am a plus sized rider, I have always been plus sized and I have always been looked down on for it. Let me state this first of all: EVERYONE CAN RIDE! A well balanced plus sized rider is no different than a thin rider as long as they are on a horse that is proper for their size.

For as long as I can remember, I was a horse lover, even having horses when I was in my teens. Up until recently, when I started my own business (Jenn's Knotty Northern Ropes on Facebook), I hadn't dreamed of what my life could be like other than just taking lessons. I found an AMAZING Barn, and with the little extra I make from my business, I've been able to start a lease on an amazing mare. Blue is a 15.1HH Friesian X Draft mare, with an amazing personality.   For the last month we've been working on our relationship on the ground. We've taken walks, done ring work, and spent hours just grooming and talking. Just building trust and becoming a team. I've ridden her twice to date, and will start taking regular lessons on her as well as with the lease starting next Tuesday.

I don't have unrealistic goals, My goals are simple: Get to Western Level 3 and get into shape!

Soooo!! Here's to a new year of riding and a great year of reaching my goals!

Thanks Jackie!! She's a great mare! Amazing personality and is very forgiving to my mistakes.
