That little boy does not put one wrong foot down. He is such a good boy for such a youngster. Here I was, with my niece getting him all ready for the National Foal Championships and CSH Breeder show. Driving along, I was watching the time getting nervous as I was worried I was going to get to the RCRA late and miss the first class. We ended up pulling into the parking lot at 9:50am. My friend Jane helped me unload him and we literally ran to the office and then into the arena. I just made it...we were the last ones in. With all that running and pushing him up the step into the breeze way...he did not flinch, freak or panic at all. He stood perfectly for the judge, walked up the line and away and trotted perfectly.

Even when others were acting up and being goofy and rearing, kicking out, spinning...he just stood there calmly. This is one unique little boy. Cameo ended up placing 4th in the National Foal Championships. Which was beyond my expectations as I had no idea how he would compare to some of the other very lovely foals. He was also awarded 1st premium status. Again...I was blown away. The judge commented on what a good little boy he is....and how sweet natured he seems. I was pretty proud of my little man.

We then came back a while later to compete in the CSH Weanling colt championship. And again...this little boy continues to amaze me and did not put one bad foot down. With all the waiting around...he still stood quietly for the judge, walked up the line and trotted away and up the entire side of the arena perfectly. We then waited and watched the other foals go. To my complete surprize, Cameo was called first in the line up. I looked at my niece to check with her if I heard that right...she nodded and grinned at me. I honestly thought I had imagined it. Cameo had placed first in the Weanling colt championship. Again...I am completely stunned.
I couldn't believe I was at the awards table accepting this huge trophy and ribbon and having our picture taken. yes. I know. Sounds dopey to say that, but I really am still surprized but very proud of that little boy.

So, what now? Well...after a lot of humming and haaaahing....I decided to take him to the Royal. I just need to get my entries in quick! I still have no idea how he will measure up...but I am loving this whole process and spending time with him as he grows. He's a special little boy. We'll see what comes ahead.

Raising a foal and being part of it's development...is truly an amazing experience. I've loved every step of the way.
