Chance and I had a very succesful weekend April 3-4th at the ADA Spring Celebration! I feel like we're learning so much together and I'm so excited for our future! Chance and I are both learning how to handle his new and improved fitness level, but we made it through the weekend with good scores inspite of a few bobbles. I felt like we had our best quality work ever in the Junior Team Test on Saturday and we won the class with a 65.4%! I couldn't have been happier. :) On Sunday we had a smoother ride but the work wasn't quite as impressive, but nevertheless we won again with another 65%. We also got to do our freestyle on Sunday. Unfortunatley by that time we were both pretty tired, which led to some mistakes on both of our parts. I was really wishing that we would get at least a 62%, the minimum requirement needed on one of your freestyles to make it on the team. So when I finally found out we had recieved a 63%, I experience a mixture of joy about our accomplishments, relief that we were now fully qualified, and exhaustion after the long weekend! haha. Chance and I now have four scores for both the NAJYRC and the Junior National Championships, meaning that we can drop our lowest score which was a 64.9% from our first show of the season last fall. Our average of 66.4% has left us third overall in the nation so far and leading Region 5 in the Junior division competing for the team. We are going to go to the Del Mar National at the end of April because we still need more show experience and time to figure out the little details. We even get to celebrate Chance's 8th birthday the first day of the show on April 29th! :) I'm so excited for this summer and I am so thankful to my parents for their ENORMOUS amount of support, my trainer Teri for getting us to where we are today, my wonderful horse who has taught me so much, and everyone else who has helped us on our journey!
