LOL! I never did ask my question, did I? Sorry about that. All I was going to ask is: Have you ever seen riders on horses built like mine that were happy with their trooper saddle...for both horse and rider?
My mare is very round and has 'no' withers. She has been ridden with a western saddle with a regular pad, and a treeless saddle with it's special non-slip pad. Both saddles slip on her. Today I was practicing turns with her, and every time we turned, the saddle slipped to the side (that was with the treeless, but again the same thing happens with the treed western saddle).
I get a sore knee from regular western saddles (and a sore bum), plus they are just too heavy for my liking. I love how lightweight my treeless is, but with the slippage, I feel very insecure. I am nervous about trotting with her, fearing that the saddle will slip if we turn, and I won't be able to keep my balance.
I am not a very experienced rider, so security is an issue for me.
I've contacted Karen and Jeff, but I wanted to hear your thoughts as well.
Hi Eileen... I board my horse. He is at a place near Tupperville. The place is on the Baseline Rd .There are NO pastures for grazing. It's difficult to see the horses in the paddock area near the barn. The property is surrounded by crops.Maybe we can visit each other in the near future.
Hi Eileen...I am new to the site. Thanks for the reply. I have a Reg. black & white paint (J.J.).He just turned 6 in April. I had a riding accident in 2007 that left me with a AC seperation of my right arm.I purchased JJ in 2008.He is my dream come true!! Were do you live in Dresden??. How close of neighbours are we??. All for now.
I went through "The Misery" today in my car, it is really wet and swampy, gonna take a long time to dry up. I think it will be awhile before we can trail ride in there. Pretty though! Trilliums are out in full bloom.
Thanks Eileen...we are starting out from the Owen Sound area....My husband used to trailer back and forth to Kentucky all the time....but that was in his younger years :)....
Hi Eileen
I don't go to Chatham to much, but sometimes, I will stop by if I get the time, You sound as busy as my life seems to be going! Happy trails!
that's great that you got on the youngster after 6 months and rode him after all that time!!! I went through Eberts (for the first time ever), but you live on a side road, would that be claymore?
I'm surprised you haven't seen us out riding! though we are closer to Tupperville, and I think you are closer to Chatham. We haven't been to the misery since fall. I like trail riding with all its freedom! The farm is on Base Line road. It was a fruit & vegy market for years. There are about 16 horses their. Glad to hear you were in the saddle on Sunday. What a beautiful day!
Hi Eileen, I keep my horse in Tupperville, not far from you probably. I was at the barn all day Sunday. Pat & Paul Zoula run the barn from their sons place. Pat got bucked off yesterday, she was in pain, but still seemed in good spirits.
