I have been thinking about trying TTEAM (Tellington Touch) with my horse, but there are no practitioners anywhere near where I live so before I commit myself, I wondered if anyone had any stories to tell about it?

Fiona,
The best-known in England is Sarah Fisher. Do you know of her? It might be worth a phone call to her farm to see if she knows anyone nearby. REALLY worth it.

Tellington TTouch Training
Thanks again Kim
I have looked at the UK website and I know there is somebody who does cover the area a couple of hours drive away from here who would probably come out but obviously she would charge me mileage, plus I just wanted to find out a bit more about other people's experiences with it. I've spent a lot of money (and time) trying to help my horse over the years and I'm learning new stuff every day! As I say, I like what I've heard about Linda Tellington-Jones so I am certainly not needing to be sold on the philosophy!

I really appreciate your help,
Many thanks

Fiona
TEAM is the only system that deals with a horse's emotions that I have found. My last horse was best described as an enigma wrapped up in a mystery. Conventional training did not work for her and I almost gave up on her and tried to sell her. Some friends gave me TEAM materials and books and newsletters to read. I started doing it reluctantly at first not expecting anything to happen. After a month there was a noticeable change. She was eating better and putting on weight. She was calmer about everything. I started doing more and more of the TEAM. I switched her to the TEAM bit and eventually rode her in the TEAM hackamore.
TEAM was just the beginning of my exploration of alternate training methods. I found that Lyons system did not work for her but Monty Roberts did. I added in some Parelli as well as Centred Riding.
She was never an easy ride but was very gifted. We went as far PSG in dressage. with my coach John Lassiter's help. I used to amaze people at the boarding barn by hacking her in just the Balance Rein. I loved her dearly and had her for 17 years. I had to put her down in January.
I never attended the TEAM trainings as they cost $600 for a week and I couldn't afford the time off or the price. TEAM is simple enough to learn on your own from the educational materials you can buy from the website.
Whatever method , so long as it is kind , will most likely work....What i have noticed is that the people who are with their horses EVERY day or almost everyday seem to do fine with almost any method that is empathetic and patient....maybe THAT has more to do with it when all is said and done...TIME to be with each other and trust and KNOW one another....anyway...whatever works....I just wanted to offer my sympathy for your loss.....I too had a wonderful Welsh- Arabian who also was my friend for 17 years too....I had to put her down 2 years ago..and it still hurts.....They will be waiting for us on the Rainbow Bridge....I'm sure of it....Best Wishes.....
We have used TTEAM for years with great success. It is wonderful to use on distance horses to lower heart rates. There are many touches that are very helpful for the colicy horse. The list is endless
As someone said early on it seems "touchy feely". When my mom went to her first clinic she came home bursting with this information. I was not as sold on it, in time as I watched the results, I to was sold.
Another thing that I think is wonderful about this method, is IF you do it wrong you don't risk screwing up your horse. Other methods aren't so forgiving.
My mom has been a practitioner for years and it has been very useful in the training of young horse or problem horses we have met.
Thank you all for your feedback. It's really useful. I think the issue of 'forgiving' is an interesting one. I find that horses are generally incredibly forgiving of what we do, or don't do to them. It's the people who teach 'methods' who often lead us to believe we have to do it their way or we'll 'ruin' our horse. I've certainly lived with a lot of that type of guilt over the years - and have probably been equally guilty of judging people - in my head at least - who don't do things the 'right' way (which usually relates to the latest 'method' I have discovered).

At the end of the day, the ones who tell us if we are getting it 'right' are the horses, not people - and they will keep on telling us - we just need to be prepared to listen to them (and ourselves!),

I ALSO had a Welsh-Arabian mare who was my friend for 25 years and I had to have her put down about 3 years ago now. I still miss her - very different from my gelding!
Does anyone know how TTEAM compares to endotapping? TTEAM seems a lot easier and there's no tools to buy, but endotapping has been highly recommended.
