What is this? Where do they live? Are they normally domestic animals??

semi-aquatic rodent of South America. It weighs about a hundred pounds,
and is about 2 feet tall at the shoulder.

He looks like a big guinea pig... I was going to guess they were from australia.... cool!!
South America. I've never heard of them kept as pets, though. Love to know the story!

Wonderful pictures!! I love guinea pigs and these look like the bonus sized!
Is this lady a big fan of "The Tick". That superhero used to have a Capybara as a pet. I didn't know folks actually kept them as pets, though! How fun!
that is a very interesting pet to have around
