2008 Olympic Games Order of Go for Grand Prix Nations' Cup August 11, 2008

The draw has come to a conclusion and the order of go for the Grand Prix test is known. Spread out over two days, Wednesday and Thursday August 13-14, 2008, the Grand Prix counts as the Nations' Cup.

I have been following the class live on webTV.

I am disgusted with the mark given to Schelleken-Bartels.
How is it possible for a horse working so grossly incorrectly (even sticking out the full length of its tongue - and knowing the repulsive Rollkur methods employed by its rider one can make of that what one wants) to be scored almost 72%?
Dressage has become utterly farcical, if this is what we want to achieve. What about the Canadian Orion, scoring almost 60% and even outranking the young Brazilian Almeida's sensitive riding with a couple of the judges. If this horse has ever heard of the term 'happy athlete', then surely it was as the punchline of a bad joke.

Hi,
I haven't been able to watch the test yet, as for some reason the channel that was carrying them switched to something else (How annoying!) so I can't comment on the tests themselves, but I can shed a bit of light on Orion and his rider Leslie Reid. What we heard at our barn (my coach is a friend of Leslie's) is that Orion, young and with very little experience in such a big situation, was overwhelmed and uncharacteristically tense throughout the whole test, although Leslies did have some lovely moments with him.
Leslie was at our barn for quite a while with her last international horse, Mark, and I was able to see first hand how she trains. Every day to start out, Leslie would take Mark on a hack through the fields and woods, then come back to do some work, then take another break with a quiet hack. She was a kind, quiet and patient rider and her horse was very happy and relaxed. I was lucky to have the opportunity to take him on a hack once while she was away, and two deer jumped out in front of us and he just kept going happily along. We currently have an advanced horse in our barn that was trained by Leslie and it too is very happy, with a positive attitude at shows and in the barn (also a lovely hack). I have never personally watched a training session with Orion, I can only guess that she trains him in the same way patient way as she did her other GP horse.
