Colostrum Bank

Hi All,

This announcement came my way and I thought I'd pass it along to any breeders.

Rayne Memorial Colostrum Bank
Colostrum is needed for the Rayne Memorial Colostrum bank. We have had several inquiries already this season, and unfortunately, we have now donated our last supply. Your mare, does have enough colostrum to donate and feed her new foal. Please help save another foal, collect and donate to the bank. Email fieldstone@sympatico.ca or deerpathequine@aol.com for full details on how to collect. We can't help save these little souls without your support. Thank you.

The babies are beautiful ! Thanks for posting their pictures. It sounds like you and Shannon are going to have MORE busy days with expectant mares all due at same time. UGH ! Better get some sleep when you can...in shifts. We will all pray that their births will be uneventful...and some colts.

I haven't been watching the mares in awhile as I have been really busy these days. Just checked in and read the news about Will. Im glad you posted the pictures as I have had a similar experience. Although my vet couldn't tell me what happened.. I had rescued a PMU mare who had a foal within the first week of arrival. His cord was just as big. The delivery was normal and he looked healthy to start but then quickly began to get weaker. Despite around the clock care sleeping by his side and all the medical exams he just couldn't coordinate his hind legs. Slowly he began to get weaker and then we had to let him go. The vets called him a dummy foal but I always thought something was weird with that cord. He knew my voice and would lift his head when I would come with the bottle. We named him Spirit. Thanks for posting this info. It gives me a sense of peace as I have been blaming myself about his loss.
