This page is dedicated to watching the mares on Mare Stare, starting with the mini donkeys at Half Ass Acres. But be warned....it is highly addictive.

Some of them seem to eat faster as if they think eating will cure the labor pains.

Ha ha ha...I've been following Heather's ladies  in waiting for two years now. I call this period, "The calm before the storm." Some of her mares just get up if in repose, or you'd swear they would be saying, "Oh yah, I think I'll stop and have a foal now." Munch munch munch. Our job is to baby sit/mare stare so Heather can get some sleep.

Don't let eating fool you Maureen.  Our mares eat, push, eat, push, foal, eat. LOL  Life is all about eating.

Looks like they are all happily munching away...no foals tonight.

We hack all year long, but this winter it is so icy everywhere just north of Toronto that we can hardly go faster than a slow trot, even with pads and corks. I much prefer the cold temps and real snow. Watching your mares will help pass the time until we get real spring weather.

Sort of looked like everyone there was just being glad if they did not blow or wash away. We had a similar day but ours was all snow and there was not so much wind.We too have had a very mild winter for us so far and so our projected "cold snap" this weekend is not too popular. Hope all is well and the foals hold off until this passes. Haven't seen Tribute today. Trust he's in the warm dey barn.

Its been a weird winter in Nova Scotia as well, rain tiny bit of snow , rain. We were actually out for a hack this week, it was so warm

Yikes!..then I guess I'd better not complain about our weather. Up until the past week we have had an unusually mild winter with very little snow. It's been like a forever spring....freeze, then thaw, then freeze again. Crazy weather huh?

It is horrible here Maureen.  Non-stop downpours, thunder, lightning, winds....and a tornado watch until 4 pm.  Battening down the hatches. LOL
