Someone made a comment to me the other day regarding the number of saddle pads I own. When I stop to think about it, I must own at least 15 different saddle pads -- two sheepskin dressage pads (one black; one white); two white dressage show pads; my baroque pad in black and gold; three other dressage pads in varying colours; and then about six pads for my flat/jumping saddle. Yup ... that's about 15 ... for one horse ... yikes! And for most of those I even have matching polo wraps! :-0

So, what about you? If saddle pads aren't your weakness, which piece of equipment in your tack collection just seems to duplicate itself beyond your comprehension? There's probably something ... ;-)

I have 2 saddle pads, one a wool felt with green canvas top and fringe and star concho. Pretty cute and works well. The other is a blue/creme Navajo pad with non-slip bottom for the mountain trails. Any time I get a new pad I give one to a friend or sell one. That way I never have TOO many pads, in case I want a new one.
Wow ... you're good!!! My thing is I like to have a choice ... "Should we wear the sage today or the lavender ... hmmm?" ... so limiting myself in this regard would prove too frustrating. I do donate saddle pads I really will not use any more ... tastes change ... and I use polos until I wear them out ... but that takes a long time because I have so many ... ;-)
I have three square pads (turquoise, white with navy trim and light pink), I have a sheepskin half pad for schooling, and black Thinline half pad for schooling, and a shaped sheepskin pad for showing. Not nearly as much as some of you guys! :)
I have a friend who makes them for me and I must have about 25. You never know what you are going to get as she goes to the end of line bins at material stores and uses whatever catches her eye. Also for the lining. I have puppies on one lining and men's pyjama material on another one. No more for a while. Gail Morse.
Have recently added a new fleece cooler to our ever-increasing range of horse garments. Will buy a spare at the Royal on Thursday. Polo collection holds steady at about nine sets ... maybe more. Not in the market for more except the black set is beginning to look and feel a little hammered. Hmmmm ...
Hmph, since I last responded to this thread I bought one more A/P pad, won one dressage pad (yay Back on Track!) and am planning on buying another dressage pad for my spiffy new dressage saddle (okay, it's used, but it's a Passier and I love it!) so my white one's not dirty all the time. So yes, my name is Anni and I have a problem...
Welcome, Anni!

Well, today I went to the Royal Winter Fair and (sigh!) bought another cooler ... but it is a beautiful Bucas and my boy will look totally handsome in it!!!! The other cooler can now be a spare for when I get the Bucas washed. That's important ... right? I mean, it's because my only cooler ripped in half on the door handle last spring that I even had to go out and buy a new one, and I didn't have a spare, so I needed to buy a spare. Right!? Yes, I'm sure of it. Now my boy need never go coolerless again. ... ;-) (I'm sure he cares ...)

Otherwise, I managed to escape with my pocketbook relatively intact.
Over the years I have collected way too many stiff and soft brushes. I've also started up a collection on bits...
Sadly I only have 3 pads for one horse...lol, but my tack related weekness are saddles. yes sadly the MOST expensive item. to count, I own 5 saddles! 4 english and 1 western. and thats only for 1 HORSE!!!!

When I told my coach this, she said "what the hell do you need 5 saddles for??!!"

lol
I only own three right now, but I have three more on my Christmas list... ;)
Thought I'd re-awaken discussion since there are so many new Barnmice members and because I've had a major addition to my equipment tally ... a brand new custom dressage saddle by Martin York that I can hardly wait to try. So what, you ask? Well ... that brings my total number of dressage saddles to three -- for one horse!!! Add to that the lovely white saddle pad that came with it and I'm now up to about 18 saddle pads (and sundry matching polos). What am I doing?!!! (The saddle was a birthday/Christmas gift from my significant other obtained at the Toronto CADORA silent auction in November. It's not like I'm going to say "Uh, no thanks, my non-custom equipment will do just fine," now, is it? ;-) ) The saddle came complete with girth, stiffup leathers and irons and a beautiful bridle. Am I spoiled, or what?

So, actually, I will be selling my other two dressage saddles (both Passiers in excellent shape) and keeping my Pessoa all purpose as an alternate.

But, I'm seriously thinking I need to do an inventory and sell some other stuff too. As wonderful a horse as my Bear is, he doesn't need all this stuff. ;-)
This is hilarious! You definitely struck a chord! Nice to know I'm not the only hopeless horse lover. Happy trails everyone!
