This page is dedicated to watching the mares on Mare Stare, starting with the mini donkeys at Half Ass Acres. But be warned....it is highly addictive.

I fully agree Annie. I tell new people all the time - they need to be here to experience a bad foaling, so they can see that things are not always cute and fun.
Yes Nicola, we had a bad foaling yesterday but it's not something that we dwell on. If you read back you will see the details as we try to explain for everyone all that goes on.
Precious is doing well...still holding at 1/2 color above showing ready on the Foal Time strips. We have Eve in as a companion for Precious and Pearl is out enjoying the grass. She's doing great. She will be flushed tomorrow.
Are the cams down?
Dear heather and Shannon,
My heart goes out to you caring mini horse breeders. I would think it would be an educational eye opener for would be pet mini owners who think that they will breed just to breed, to see the potential dark side of this experience.
Our thoughts turn to Ms Precious ... if she would ever stop eating long enough to push. LOL
Grannie Annie
I just read the sad news. .and I am so sorry Heather, for you and for Pearl. I hope Pearl's eye heals without scaring but it will take longer for her heart to heal. Try to get some rest before another birth.
Claire
That was the saddest thing-- she wanted it so badly and it wouldn't wake up for her-- brought me to tears
This was Pearl's 2nd foal Rose. She rejected her foal last year and Tonja raised it for her. So this year we were on pins and needles waiting to see what she would do. This year she loved her foal. Very sad...she wanted it so badly and it wouldn't wake up for her. It's heartbreaking, but she is okay and we will try again.
Oh my gosh Heather, I just read the last comments and heard about Pearl and her foal. I am so sorry. Every breeders Nite Mare. I hope Pearl recoups well. Is this her first foal and how is she handling the loss?
