Hi everyone I may be young but I ride sidesaddle regularly I have ridden at many sidesaddle shows but my pony is too small to be enterd at the royal.

H is only 13.1 when they have to be 14 hands and over ( Ithink )

An English style saddle in Mahoghany leather with cream suede seat and padded safe..mmmm! Betty-Lynn has ordered a made to measure tree for me which I think she said she would get in January. She has been so lovely to deal with and I am so excited about it, almost wishing my time away! lol! I did look into the steeles but someone told me that they put you in a strange position, I don't know if that is true! As I had only heard good things about Betty-Lynn's saddles, I went with her! They also look close contact which I prefer to being sitting up high on the heavily flocked English saddles!

I had bought my saddle to fit a Belgian x TB mare.  THere was no hope in hell of a "normal english" saddle fitting her.  Betty-Lynn has her trees custom made within Alberta to fit "modern" horse and has had a lot of experience on arabs especially (her husband bred and trained quite a number of them, which Betty-Lynn also rode and showed).  You can find other saddles to fit an arab, I know the Steeles are pretty common on the circuit as well as Circle Y's when you can find them.  Are you getting an english or a western saddle?  I'm planning on going over to visit her in early January so I hope to get a sneek peek at your work of art!

I have just ordered one of Betty-Lynn's beautiful side saddles for my hard to fit Arabian! I am so looking forward to having it as I have so much trouble fitting her to an English side saddle. Has anyone else here had similar trouble? and was a western treed saddle the answer?

Couldn't agree more!  I actually own one of Betty-Lynn's creations.  My saddle is "The Patriot" and you can see her on the site.  Betty-Lynn's just a lovely lady with so much experience.  She's actually the poster girl for this group, although the picture is just a few years old... ;)  I adore my saddle, it's beautiful and comfortable to ride in!

You are quite welcome.  I noticed it the other day on someone elses comment and thought you needed it. I just visited that site and was very pleased with what I found.  There are two or three very good saddle makes in the western hemisphere and they are worth checking out.  Do your research before you commit.  Good luck.

I am looking for a side saddle but don't really know where to start. I have looked at the tack exchange but they don't have a great selection.... they are all too small. If I am an 18 in. in my hunter saddle how do I measure the side saddle or is it more like how comfortable it is? I really do not know! Any tips would be extremely helpful!

New to this group, I don't ride sidesaddle, yet! However my aunt is part of CA Aside riders. Here is a picture of myself trying out her new western sidesaddle
