Ahhh, nothing like the heart of a Thoroughbred! Love them! Used to show OTTB's in the hunter and now I have 3 of my own home-breds, 2 which have done quite well at the Royal in the line classes so far. The picture in my avatar, he has had quite a rough start to his life, but he is a fighter and I know will have some great years ahead yet. I have owned a few of them and would love to share. Also love to hear other's stories as well.

Hey Guys. Long time no talk. i have been so busy with my TB Ginger. as an update we are now jumping 3'3'' and counting. she usually jumps the jumps at 4'0'' but the pole is much lower. today i got down to the barn and her right for fetlock was really swollen like a tennis ball. her whole lower leg is swollen but it really baloons out on the lower half. i know she was running aroung in her paddock but i don't think that is what did it. it is not swore and she is barley limping but it is blazing hot and warms the cold hose water i run over it. does anybody know what it is? any suggestions besides just hoseing it. message me plz!! shw will be wild when i start riding her again so the sooner it gets better the better.

I have 2 thoroughbreds. Merlot is a bay 16hh 5 year old ottb. He didn't even know canter aids when I got him. He has come so far in 3 1/2 months. I just bought Toohey who ia also 16hh 12 year old. He has had a lot of dressage experience and has recently been introduced to eventing. I am hoping to event them both.

I have a 7 yr old chestnut TB named Gypsy. She was another "trained for the track" but never raced and I'm hoping to eventually compete her in competitive trail and maybe dressage.

I also have an arabian mare whom I compete in competitive trail and endurance. Always wanted a thoroughbred and jumped at the chance when I was able to get Gypsy.

I recently got a 4 year old thoroughbred, I adore her. She is so willing to please, and she's never spooked or do anything to make me feel uncomfortable which I do feel is uncommon is thoroughbred, But I do recommend getting Thoroughbreds for Jumpers. Warm-bloods is a big thing right now, they can jump huge jumps, but if you're doing lower level jumping, the thoroughbreds will beat them with time. love!

the thoroughbred i am lucky enough to ride,
has never raced on an oval...
though instead he's a barrel racer, he absolutly ADORES it lol... we also compete in flat classes locally, western as well as hunter.. he is an absolute doll. can get a little hot though he really is amazing, he follows me like a puppy dog, goes bareback in a halter and lead rope in brand new surrondings fine!
he puts up with my crazyness and we get on great...
he doesnt look like a typical thoroughbred,
he's grey and buily pretty thick!
we always get called
quarter horse, apendix horse, lipizanner horse and for a first today he was called an arab lol...
a very huge part of my life and i love him to pieces even when he is being a fool <3

I own a twelve year old thoroughbred gelding he's bay...of course. And he's so sweet. He's 17 hh and built like an 18 wheeler...we call him Big Rig. But has the temperment of a quarter horse. We were eventers, now we just do show jumpers because he enjoyed cross country just a tad too much. He literally is my guardian angel. Took a jump couple weeks ago without enough impulsion and we crashed into it and he was ok, but since I was falling he put himself in a position to get hurt to save my slippery butt...he failed I fell anyway (MY FAULT) but when I hit he just stepped aside and waited patiently for me to get up. Seriously no body even thought to grab him but he just chilled.
We trail ride, I threw a western saddle on him and no big deal, he swam with me the first time and never blinked never rears or does anything cruel. He may have raced for six years of his life, but as soon as I saw him in that stall I knew this was the horse I wanted to learn on. (and we did learn A LOT together). These thoroughbred may be fast, but they have bigger uses than racing around a circle. They deserve second chances.
