Thanks Gary, that very interesting - I am also interested in the US civil war, from a historical point of view it wasnt that long ago - I wonder if we have really progressed at all as a society other than technology
Many years ago I participated in English Civil War renactments- I was a Cavalier ( of course!!) Great fun and as a 16th/17th century history buff- gave me quite a connection to past events...
It sounds really cool. And my grandfather would be thrilled if I did something like that! He wanted me join the military my whole life (clearly I'm not military material haha) He loves history and all that entails. But he's also the one who got me into riding as a child and he took me to all my lessons and paid for everything for so many years. If I did that he would be absolutely ecstatic! We'll keep in touch!!!
Thanks for the link to the site. It looks very interesting and I will have to look more into it. I think distance would prevent me from joining, but it looks like fun! Im going to keep an eye on your schedule and check it out when you are in my area.
I just watched the video. Nice to have the video of your activity. The horses are obviously well conditioned to the sound of rifle fire, I noticed one rider firing right above his horses head and the horse didn't even flick an ear.
I also noticed the bugle. My Dad was in the Canadian reserves and had one just like it.
Thanks for the introduction, I'll check out your site!
Alternatively, here is a link to my site (I am real estate agent focusing on horse people and horse properties)! http://www.bevansargent.ca

Hi, Gary. Thanks for the comment & invite. In fact, about 20 years ago, I was part of another U.S. Civil War & Fenian Raid re-enactment group, an infantry regiment based out of Newmarket. I'd probably join your outfit if I weren't already riding and training with the Governor General's Horse Guards. Besides their musical ride, we also do skill-at-arms training, tent-pegging, and some World War 1 cavalry demonstrations. I'll keep you in mind, if I decide to get back into reenacting.
Hello there, I am sure it makes your heart pound. Unfortunately 15 and 16 won't work as I am up in Ottawa for the weekend.
But I will make sure I come up in August weekend to see you. Hopefully I won't be showing or at a dressage show. Let me know what times you will be at Heritage Park on those dates.
Cheers
I think this is neat. I haven't seen pictures like these since Gone with the Wind. I think it beats, hanging around the pub drinking beer. Although I suspect a good pint would go good afterwards.
I see by your schedule you will be in Milton in August. I live in Milton and would love to go over and see you guys. I will try and note on my calendar the dates, so that I don't forget. I bet the horses just love what you do. They look so anxious to get going.
Where do you guys get together to do this?
Mary-Joe

I am in northern BC.
You guys look like you are having wa-ay too much fun.
Hi Gary,
Thank you for the lovely note on what you do with your horses. I think distance precludes my involvement but it sure sounds fun!
I will certainly check out your site.
There are no organized horse activities in my area so I am usually on my own.
