Dear Lisa--the best thing you can do for your position is to put your heels down. Practice a lot in two point and let your weight sink your heels down. The best thing you can do for your horse is to move your hands MUCH further down his neck, either grab his mane half-way down his neck or rest your hands lightly on the sides of his neck half-way down. A rider MUST move his hands forward over the jump or the horse gets really reluctant to jump because he (the horse) can't move properly to jump safely.
Super video! I've added it here by copying and pasting the embed code right into the comment box.:)

What a lovely video. thank you for sharing it.
so, I am going to jump on my horse and ride him like this... no bridle... and bareback hopefully. Is the rope around the neck anything special???? I'm not going to do this unsupervised, but will wait for my trainer who is filming a movie for 5 weeks to return... but I know Oliver will let me do this... he is so gentle.... what is the string, or rope, or is it just a regular rope? thanks... JL and Oliver.
that's pretty cool, I like to see kids do STUFF with their horses.
thanks Jackie.
