Very good video, Informative and very useful for those unexpected moments. My problem is...thinking that fast. I tend to think 'he'll settle' by which time ive reached the point of  no return.

I appreciate this. I had a horse years ago that threw himself over twice. Once when he spooked on a hack and the second time in the arena. I was very lucky both times because I managed to fall clear of him but had no idea how to save myself at the time. If there's one thing I know about riding it's to do your best to read your horse but to always be aware that the unexpected can happen and to learn as many skills as possible for dealing with them. Thanks for sharing your advice.

Yes, there is really no completely "bombproof" horse. They are flight animals and unexpected things can and do happen. Thus it's good to have some idea what to do if your horse does decide to "flee". :)

thank you for commenting back, it could perhaps be interesting to ad why a horse would rear and develop such behavior. I do not agree with you that even the calmest horse may react like this, if you have a horse for example in unfamiliar surroundings, you need to consider helping the horse by walking on foot in the unfamiliar surroundings before you ride there or recognized the horses signals of fear and get off a long time before these situations occur.

He's a professional and if you read the text to the video the horse was a racehorse that reared. His job was to correct that problem which he did. In the process he made this very good instructional video showing what you should do if ever faced with this situation. Even the calmest of horses may one day react quite unexpectedly on a trail ride or in unfamiliar surroundings.

hm, why would one get on a horse that is not ready? and then with fancy music adn video try to teach people what to do if you are dumb enough to get on a horse that is not ready for you to get on...
