koolio how do you do thye spanish walk and kiss
I use clicker training, and my horse understands the concept of clicker training which makes teaching tricks to her very very simple, easy and fast. Spanish walk is taught in many different ways, some use ropes etc etc, however I teach mine to simply lift a leg as if im about to pick it out, once we have this, i ask for longer periods of time, then eventually it turns into a strike, I then label the legs 1 and 2 I can then ask '1 and two' and give lots of praise when they get it correct, to start with the horse may only manage one leg lift, you increase it slowly asking for more and more steps before a treat, but praise the whole time. see my youtube to see how navara has gotten better at this ( in a week or two I will have a video of her doing about 15 steps of a full spanish walk)
Kissing is easy, you teach a horse (I use clicker training again) to target your hand, hold out your hand, he touches you click and treat, keep doing this until you can raise your hand and he will touch it. Now move your hand to your face, when he touches say 'kiss' and reward, keep doing this, soon you should be able to say kiss and the horse will reach for your face and kiss you.
Keep training sessions short and fun.
