YEY!!!!!! PEKOE!!!! Does that horse know he has a cheering section? I think maybe he does, that's why he is recovering so quickly. :-)))))
Still awaiting results of tests. Colonoscopy consult on May 30th.
Hi All! We had a miracle breakthrough with the horse Pekoe, the other day. All the professional people working to bring him back to work and you people, old farts, have created a new horse with his work ethic and soundness vastly improved. He goes out without his Easycare boots now for the day but we use them when riding him. He is quite cute as he wants to trot and trotting sound he is. He wants to canter and huffs and puffs with his trot breathing to say lets go you you old bag I am not talking about laboured breathing but his own version of lets get going.
I am taking it slow with him as I know not to let him do too much. I also have a person on the ground with me for "linus" blanket status until I get fitter. I believe there will be pictures to follow after this weekend!
Cindy! Thanks for the good wishes. I think the chiro visit and a saddler right after has done the trick. He moves way better than he has in ages. Talk later as I have ads to sell for a farm paper to pay all the bills!
With your tests good news so far?
Gail, great to hear about Pekoe!!!!! I hope you are both doing well. Laminitus is a terrible painful thng for horses, I have 'old type' morgans so have had problems with laminitus as well so I sympathize with you. Now the green grass is finally coming in here (northwest B.C.) with a vengeance I have been keeping steady watch on my boys, knowing that all of them are at risk. Fortunately I have some very keen riders coming over regularly which goes a long way to keeping extra lbs off the horses and me lololol.
my tests: So far, no news is good news. :-)
Gail, I'm all for listening to the horse as the first technique to look at.
My problem has been overcoming deep seeded fear issues. Things are progressing again. I'm very comfortable on the ground and have learned lots games/tricks/ workouts to keep my mind and Cash's mind busy. If we are both thinking about something specific to do, we don't have much free brain space to put toward thinking 'about fear'.
Thanks Shirley! I was just emailing a friend who has a mobile tack cleaning service. Good idea! I have been lucky to be surrounded by people who have a lot of fairly new techniques to share. Who knew I would need them all.
I learned from Jackie in this group that you need to listen to your horse. I knew that before but needed a kick in the behind to remind me! As things change and get better over time for the horse, I will keep in touch. This group of over 60's touches my heart big time!
Gail, I wasn't full of suggestions cause this is not within my experience for the most part BUT....I did feel for you and your horse and your situation. AND I'm really happy for you that you tried an alternative method, Chiropratic, to to look for a cause. Some Chiroprators are now getting into different forms of therapeutic healing (muscle testing, Bowen Therapy etc) and are getting great results without the huge expense of multiple tests and xrays etc. I'm realy interested in learning more of these alternative techniques. Sounds like your Chiropractor really knows his/her stuff/
Best wishes to you guys. Keep us informed of your progess.
