I have not even been out of the house since Sat. when I had a small version of heat stroke.  We are to get a break for a few days and then off we go again.  My b.o. has been hosing mine down.  Hope to ride Sunday!

What do any of you do for your horses when the heat and humidity are up like this?

I like to sit under a shade tree and let Cash graze in the yard but I can only handle that for so long when it's this hot. We had a little cooler evening and this morning we got some rain and things cooled some. The temps are suppose to go up again but I can hope for a little moderation.

Welcome to the world of high blood pressure.  One more thing for us to put in our bag of ailments.  I am on something for that also.  Just got a a new doctor who is starting from the bottom up, so to speak.  We have the first cut done now but the dryness is nasty.

Wet, wet, wet, I'm turning into a prune!!!!  Oh wait that's age wrinkles lololol. Anyway update on health tests: stress test revealed I have hypertension, so exercise like a demon, cut back the stress, get a BP monitor and go on BP medication, lovely.  Turns out high blood pressure runs in my family, so I have to be on top of it all the time now.  I wish I could ride, if I even think about it the water pours out of the sky, what the heck? Don't get me wrong I'm thankful for the irrigation but no one has been able to get their hay cut and in, usually that is done by June/July, here we are coming into August and hay is not up.  Although predictions promise lots of sun first two weeks of August, I hope it is all through August, then we can get our hay in.

We are really hot here also!  We broke a heat and humidity record here in the Toronto area.  I experienced heat stroke systems riding Saturday and have not been outside the door at all since.

Good thing I have a barn owner who looks after my horse the same as she does her own.

You have my sympathy Joe, would you believe that it was cooler yesterday down here in the sunny south? Not by much, and at least I have air conditioning.
I rode Wednesday, and told my teacher I wouldn't be riding today. So glad I did, it is supposed to be even hotter today.
Of course our heat indexes are up over 100 F, 112 F in the county seat. I bless the guy who invented air conditioning!

Cindy Jeffery, me too, on the Pc, but I'm off now to head to the barn. 3 miles away. Time to get Cash's feet trimmed up nice. Hoping for a ride.

Our Michigan weather sounds similar to yours.

I'm in northwestern B.C., Canada and the weather here is nothing to count on. One minute we are in a deluge, the next blistering heat, many times it is overcast and hot like a greenhouse, when that happens one can't move a step without bursting into a sweat, can only imagine how the horses feel.  For the most part I see them camped out under trees where there is a nice breeze.  Sometimes I join them cause riding would be way unfair. Oh and then there are the bugs, really bad when it is humid and overcast.  Right now it is gorgeous and here I am on the putter (computer) :-)))

Jackie, The company Cool Medics that makes the cooling vests also makes a litte head piece to sear under hats or helmets. Haven't tried mine yet. The vest or the hat. Our Michigan weater is predicted to be very hot Friday on for at least six days. today is actually very nice so I'm headed out to ride topping out at 76F.This darn heat and humidity attacks my stomach and then I'm just plain out of luck for doing anything outside.
