Will do Janet, you never know where I may show up next. lol I am known for being the eternal wanderer...But I love to get off the beaten path and explore...that goes for driving as well as riding. I just hate to miss anything you know...lol

BTW Eileen, if you ever have a chance to go to Clearwater, let me know and I'll give you my girlfriend's phone number and email address. She loves to show people around. She is retired but runs an antique business and goes to shows.

Yes, it doesn't ever end! I have had my house for 10 years now and just starting to see things that need to be done. They don't stay new forever, lol. I am very fortunate to have my fiance' who moved in with me 3 years ago after we both retired (force retired) who helps me out tremendously with upgrading and maintenance of the property even though he's not into horses at all. We work out a deal where I pay for the horses, dogs and food for all including us along with any other misc. bills that I occur. He makes the house payment, insurance, taxes, etc., and takes care of anything that needs to be done, i.e., we just had to get someone to high pressure water blast off the old paint and spray new paint on all the eaves, fix the stucco and built a big barn-style shed with a loft for me. He's so good to me. Like I said next on our agenda is the fence for the dogs. I would love to make a separate run for the horses as well but that entails digging out (or dragging) cactus out of that area. It's the cholla cactus that jumps onto you, not literally but if you get close enough, it's on you! I would love to have a full barn and he always teases me that that's what I really wanted instead of a shed.

We did put a cement floor in our shed as well and we love it. We have a group of gophers and a variety of other desert dwellers that I'm sure would have shown up one of these days in the floor. But the cement is quite expensive, costing us $1000 more than we had planned....YIKES!

Well that works out very well for you and your friend on their house in FL. Wow, how great can that be!!!

Ok so if I make any plans to go to FL in the next 6 months to a year I definitely will contact you on Barn Mice. I'm so glad I found this site.

I will probably be on barn mice till I can't lift my fingers onto the keyboard. lol I know what you mean about having to plan the finances, I need a new fence as well, but it will have to wait for the budget. I still have to pour a cement floor on new building then build a loft above that. Hmmmm it never ends does it. Lucky for me I can rent from a friend for a very reasonable price in Fl. I help with yard work, and looking after the property as well. It all works out.

Ok will do. Will you still be on Barn Mice? I don't have any plans on going this year as we will be going on a cruise in October and that will be all we can afford this year. Next year comes a fence around the house for the dog kids (australian cattle dogs). But maybe next year I will make a point of going down there by myself just to get away and visit my sis if the fares are good.

Clearwater is probably abour 3 hours from me, not sure just off the top of my head. Yes anytime you get to Florida get in touch and we will see if we can meet half way.

Just a second thought, how far south are you from Clearwater? I have a BFF that I have known since high school there.

I have never been to Naples although my Mom and Dad when they were alive just fell in love with Naples and planned on moving there from NJ. I don't know why but they never did move there. They moved to Jensen Beach on the eastern side I suspect to take care of my grandma and grandpa. That was in the late '60s or early '70s. Well if I ever get down there I'll be sure to look you up! My sister still lives in my Mom's home and sooner or later we will be going down there to visit.

Hi Janet, while in Florida I am in the Naples area (west coast) but on the very eastern edge of Naples so it is not all city Thank goodness. It was pstarting to really get built up just before the recession so now it is sort of at a standstill which is kind of nice that we are not loosing our "rural" feeling out there on a dead end road.

Hi Eileen,
Where in FL do you go? My mom lived there before she passed and my sister now lives in her house in Jensen Beach, east coast about 50 miles north of West Palm Beach. Hey Florida is the place to be in the winter for sure! It's like a whole different world I'm sure. Lovely! Janet
