Hi Ladies,
Not much action on this group huh! You all must be out riding? It's going to be 105 F here today so no riding here. Just computering!

Good that nothing happened Gail. I'm not familiar with bitless bridles, will have to check them out. I always used to ride with halter underneath in endurance nad competitive trail. ALWAYS!

Well we did what we said we would do today. Went for a 2 hour ride and had the cell phone and I had a halter under the bridle that we had on during our adventure and a lead shank attached to the halter and tied to the saddle. A bit more work but a bit more proactive and safer as well. Gail.

I had an adventure today. Good thing I had company because the bitless halter bridle I was riding the trails with came undone and I only had the part that goes over his nose and the reins. Both sides that do up were not attached any more. My friend had to get off and do it up again as if I had released the pressure on the nose part it would have fallen off and then nothing. Next time a halter under the bridle, a lead shank and a cell phone. Enough excitement for one day. I wonder what will happen tomorrow? Gail.

ok there was a typo in the last note, buy my "hay" not hair, haha! I'm tired.

You guys are lucky you have barns, etc. Do you have to pay a lot for hay? Last year was a really huge shock for me. I usually buy my hair for 1 year and store it under tarps. It ended up into September I think and I was afraid I wouldn't get any hay if I didn't buy it then. I like to buy Bermuda grass hay which is popular but we mostly have alfalfa here (they grow it 40 miles away). I ended up paying $13.99 a bale for probably 90-100 lb bales now the price for alfalfa is 9.99 here in town. they usually tack on $1 a bale for transportation from the grower in Bullhead City. How much are you guys paying for hay?

We don't have a barn but did have a big shed built but no hay stored in there, just for my tack, meds and feeds and a loft for storage. Love it!

Nope not a lot of help here, although my brother did stop by one morning when I was working, and he did help with a dozen or so bales, the last ones are the hardest for me to get "up" into the mow. I had to run into town so there was no time to do any more. I did finally get the last wagon home, and backed it into the barn before it rained again. It is still sitting there as I don't have to hurry getting the hay off if it as I will be storing the wagon for the winter. That helps a great deal.

Ugh! Also! Good luck today! The forecast here is for rain. I guess you did not find any handsome or not young men to help! Gail.

I have a load of hay waiting with my name on it. I got the message this aft. by the time I had tidied up outside, put away the trailer cushions (I was cleaning out the LQ) and all of the other items that I had set outside to get some fresh air...The sky opend up...it poured...lucky me to have moved all of that stuff inside just in time. I was soaked, because I left the windows of the truck partially down...ran to put them up. I went into the house to change and maybe head out for the hay...and it poured again...I guess I will go tomorrow morning.. It is an hour or so to drag that wagon back home so I don't want to get caught between here and nowhere with it raining. Wish me luck, I may need it/
