We have had about 80% humidity for the last few days. Good to ride Wed and not again until Sat. GM

I know how hot it can get with humidity but we don't have much. We usually have a total of 8% humidity but we keep cartons of body lotion and slather it on day and night to keep the dry skin from falling off altogether, heh heh! I remember when I used to live in NJ how humid it was and once in a while we have 30% humidity when we get a storm and I just can't move in it. I just love the dryness out here though. Stay cool and hopefully it will cool off soon.

I am not leaving the a/c today at the house. I have an excuse which is that I need to sell lots of ads for my Sept. Farmer paper to be a success. Cooler by Wed. but rain for Thursday and Friday. Cheers to all! Gail.

No a/c in my house, so it is hard to recoup once you get out there and start sweating and steaming. I was supposed to run out and load up a wagon of hay, and take that home and pile it in the barn, but that will not happen today. There will be cooler days ahead. Not riding either, it just is not going to happen. I may try to clean out the trailer LQ since it has not been cleaned since I got back from my last Journey. The trailer is in the new shed under a high roof, so it may be kind of cooler there. We will see, I really should get some of the easier jobs done when I can't get out there and do the hard jobs. The lawn needs to be cut so badly, but it is so wet in the morning cant do it then, by high noon it is dry but the heat is devastating. I can always bale it. lol Weeds need to be pulled, they are taking over the lawn etc. Not going into town either, so I will be home all day. lol Stay cool guys.

We are i n celcius and it is 32 here and humid. Not riding today as I think it is too much for the animals. No such thing as dry heat around Ontario. GM

Thank you Gail. How hot is it? We are in the high 90s like 98 or 99 but "it's a dry heat" as they say. It really is much more tolerable but it still is hot. It's just that you can do a lot more in this heat because you get hot, run into the house for a while with a/c and then go back out.

Well Eileen I was riding this morning. Some say too hot but all at a walk and all in the woods and then a good sponge off and back to the runin shed for the horse to tell his stories to the others. Not tomorrow though. Supposed to be worse than today for heat.

Welcome too Janet Baca and now we are 8. Good for the old farts!

Thanks Eileen. I know, I was thinking the very same thing. The clock's ticking and I'm not doing what I love to do. Part of not riding was the stress of going through 10 years of knowing we were going to be laid off from work but not knowing when. The last 2-3 years were extremely stressful and I had a very nasty female supervisor to beat. I don't want to rehash old history, so I'll just leave it at that. I find myself going through it all over again when I talk about it. It's history now! Anyway, it was that combined with my fiance' who I worked with moving in with me when he was retired in June of 2006 and I retired in August. I have been single for a long time and was loving it. So then here we are living together, the letdown after retiring and my Mom passed away the very next year so it really put me in a trench for a couple of years. Earlier this year I hired a trainer named Karen who is 40ish from Alaska who had moved here and I just love her. So little by little I am coming out of my trench and ready to get back to my old life! I always dreamed of not having to go to work and just ride and look what I did. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to the cooler weather (and the cruise). It's still in the 100s here and I just can't get up early enough to trailer my horse out. She's a real nitwit to ride away from the gelding so she has to be trailered.

Yes, I was going to google riding places, it's on my mind to do very soon. Thanks for the note and glad to be in the group.

Welcome to the group Janet. Hey at least you are getting back in the saddle, that is what counts. We can't sit back and watch the clock tick away our lives. You have a good goal there with riding where ever the cruise takes you. Did you try googling riding stables in those places that you will be stoping in? That would be my first place to look.
