Hi Rose.
Not a lot of snow here yet, just enough to be annoying. But every morning, the footing and scenery changes, so I get this kind of reaction.. OOOO that's new..... The footing is terrible on the way to the paddock right now. Magie actually follows behind trying to step in my footprints. Ewww. Weird ground.... Can hardly wait for our first real snow. The footing will be so much better for running around and playing. She spends a lot of time knocking snow off of things. It is so cute. :) Gotta get some pics of that....
Laura, I don't know about where you live but here we got 5 inches of snow. I was wondering if it snowed where you are and how your filly liked her first snow. I always love watching the new foals experiencing their first snow. So cute with the jumping, rolling, eating and snorting.
Maybe!!!!
The best thing about raising your own foal is that you know exactly every experience they have had , good or bad. You pick the trainers , vets , farriers , riders , barn buddies, and visiters that might impact their horseanality. You know illness they had, what allergies they may have and injuries that occured. No secrets.
Laura, for some reason it didn't click that Magie was a baby! Oh, I'd love to raise a baby someday! The barn I'm at has four Friesian fillies from this spring (my barn owner is boarding them while the breeder builds himself a new barn big enough to accommodate all his horses), and next spring there'll be a new foal from a Standardbred broodmare that boards at the barn. The nice thing about raising your own is that you can do whatever you like, without someone telling you not to do this or that to their horse.
Queenrider, I know what you mean about Scooter getting into things! I don't think there is a box, bag or anything that's left in the open that doesn't get investigated by my mare :o)
Hi Queenrider...Scooter sounds like a funny guy. Curious little buggers aren't they? Congrats on his progress. :)
Hi Rose. I have been trying to get some time to take Magie's 'Christmas pics' for Colette Litjens to show her how well baby is getting along. So hopefully I will have them to post by the weekend. Christmas is coming fast! (I don't have a stocking for her yet, but it is in the works. She has discovered how yummy carrots are. :) )
