There is a Christmas stall decorating contest at the barn. I hung up Scooter's stocking on his stall. There isn't too much else I can do because if he can get his mouth on it it will be destroyed! He is coming along well in his training. He is learning to do the walk to canter transition. He has a certain look that he takes on when he understands and then is happy to show his new skill.
Magie sound so cool Laura. Do you think you could post a picture once in a while so we can see her growth progress? I bet you already have a Christmas stocking for her.
More gushing. ;) Little Magie was a star for the vet again last night. Boosters. I helped her tip her nose for the fist one, and the second, Magie tipped her nose right away all by herself and relaxed. My vet was amazed! What a smart little horse. Proud mummy.
You are so right Cyndi. I am really enjoying the journey. Magie is only little once, so I guess it is somewhat like watching your baby take her first steps, or saying their first words. Everything is so neat. Years ago, I was at a warmblood barn and helped babies get started and then gone, but never saw the end result. Magie is MY little horse. Also, I am not in a big rush. Just taking the time it takes, and giving her a great foundation for when we really get started a couple of years from now. I am just loving every minute of it. :)
:)
I love your enthusiasm, Laura! :o) You seem to celebrate and appreciate every little thing, which is wonderful! Instead of focusing on the end result, you are thoroughly enjoying the journey. Good for you :o)
Thanks Rose. Magie isn't even a 'pet'. She is my future partner. I can really see why the first settlers considered their Canadians as part of their families. She is a family member. Just like our other two horses. But there is something quite special about her. She really wants to be with us. She actually leaves her friends to see what we are up to and hangs out. It is amazing. This is the beginning of a beautiful friendship! ;)
You know what I love about your relationship with your horse Laura? Its that you value your precious filly and don't think of her as LIVESTOCK. What a lucky little filly she is. There is something really special about this breed of horse, The way they bond with us humans. Gotta love them. I love reading about your experiences.
Holy cow my filly is smart! My instructor came today, and we introduced Magie to a couple of new concepts....and she got them right away. The challenge is keeping up to her. What a smartie pants. Circling game...got it. Put your foot on a tire, nose on a cone. Got it. Wow. She is amazing to me. So calm too. You can tell she loves to play.
Hi Frances! I just may take you up on that. I'd love to go out for a drive with you. When I went out with their Morgan fellow, we were using a 'bike'. But there are so many vehicles out there, different types for different reasons, different harnesses....Wow. Facinating! I have in my head eventually what we may get, but I really have to do some research. I think this could be something really fun for us to do. (Maybe even drag my supportive but non-horsey hubby into it with me....Haa haa haaaa.)
Hey, If you guys are free sometime in December, you could come visit us too. I'll put the coffee or tea on :)
Canadian crazy girl,
Laura :).
Good for you Laura. From my perspective, it is just so much fun! Your Maggie will be versatile and will be able to do whatever you ask of her!
Next time I know in advance that we are going to hitch , I will give you a call to come over.
Cheers,
Frances
