thank you Laura, I don't guess Bis would be in the 'sport category', although he's 2nd level dressage and was a jumper for the previous owner(I don't do jumps-not on purpose, anyway)there's just Canadiens. I appreciate the education, and I'll check out these sites.I found Emilian (sp) Mainguy in the breeders registry, Bis first name.Don't really know why I'm so curious-lol.thanks

Absolutely! I own one of each. LOL
Canadian Sport horses are a 'type' rather than a specific breed. They have to meet a certain criteria in size, conformation, temperment, etc., bred to be an all round performance horse...Seen typically in the jumper or dressage or eventing disciplines. My registered Canadian Sport Horse is Trakener/TB cross. My previous Sport Horse was 1/4 Clyde and 3/4 TB. She was a foundation broodmare before I got her.

The Canadian, or Canadien is a breed all to itself, including all of the perks we have all discovered in our little horses. Their lineage spans over 400 years of history.
A couple of places you can check out for info is the Cherry Creek Canadians website (they did a ton of research and have shared it), the Canadian Horse Breeder's Association, and so on.

I have been asked more than once what is the difference. Easiest, Canadian Sport Horse is a type, Canadian HOrses are a Breed. :)
Hope this helps.....

Is there a difference between a Canadian Horse, and a Canadian Sport Horse? Wikipedia say's there is. Bis lineage says 100% purebred Canadian on both parents sides, back through great-parents.thanks, trying to learn everything I can about my little iron buddy!

I understand-Bis takes the place of my meds so much of the time. Sometimes I call him"Pepto-Bismark"lol. I wish I could keep him in my room!

Sure do! Every day Magie puts a smile on my face. :)

Magie sounds like Bismark's sister, curious about anything; I think that's one of the nicest things, when they prefer their human company. Sounds like you have a lot of fun, Laura!

Magie is trying desperately to help with the construction projects. She checks out the tarps, the tools, and whatever she can get into. Guaranteed if I am working on something, she is like a kitten on your newspaper. I spend a lot of time asking her to move. LOL She just wants a scratchie, or to hang out. She actually leaves her buddies to visit 'her people'. :)

a lovely Sunday-Bismark chased me all over the pasture today-I didn't even know horses would do that! He's changing my life-

Cyndi, so many times he's the ONLY thing that gets me through the day!-lol.
