Gastric Stomach Ulcer Syndrome

Hi everyone,I have finally started some intensive basic dressage training with my 6 yo wb gelding. Prior to this work, Lorenzo has had a rather cruisey life as a station horse out in the country but was recently bought back in to the city/stable life with me. It's been about 3 weeks since we started working together maybe 5 or 6 times a week of half hour sessions. We are working on straightness and frame - it's been hard work for both of us!!A few days ago Lorenzo started exhibiting signs of…See More

I know, I still cring at the memory of the vet lifting various peices of skin away from the wound and snipping out bits of flesh...it was definately an experience I would rather keep as a once off! Lorenzo has a habit of injuring himself - he…

He seems to be doing ok so far - we keep him rugged to keep the flys away and to stop him from biting at the area. Unfortunately we've had to let him out in to a bigger paddock to graze because there is fluid swelling underneath the wound and…

Wow! "Pretty" pictures! We had a horse with a major injury on her upper leg that stitches wouldn't hold together, so she literally had to grow new skin for about the size of my hand. She started with exposed muscle and finished with a…

Hi, Loz: I took at look at the photos, and really your best bet gien the location of the wound is to minimize movement until the sutures are removed. The quieter he is the better, and you really don't want him pulling at the sutures as the…

Minimising scarring from large wounds - any tips?

Well, Lorenzo successfully managed to meet the vet despite only being at his new agistment centre for less than a week! So now my poor lad has a large, deep gash down his side which has been stitched up (pictures are attached) so I was wondering if anyone has any tips for minimising scarring? I dont know how he did it, but it was sometime around 5pm yesterday arvo and was discovered at about 6pm by the stable hand who went to bring him in for his dinner. Fortunately there is no swelling just…See More

Lorenzo does this cute little lippy-nuzzle thing on my shoulder when i tickle just behind his ears. I'm sure its just mutual grooming but i like to pretend its a smooch ;)

A Bit About Me and my Horse(s)
Hi everyone! My name is Loz, and I'm 24 and live in Perth, Western Australia. I am the proud owner of Lorenzo, a rising 6 year old trakehner warmblood gelding and part owner of a rising 3 year old andalusian gelding named Riva. I've never competed, but i hope to do so in the near future - eventing with Lorz, and dressage and hacking with Riva. Drop me a line sometime :)
