Adoptable Horse of the Week - Butterscotch from Crosswinds Equine Rescue

Butterscotch is an 8-year old gorgeous palomino paint

mare, approx. 15hh, 1000 lbs. She
has great balance and is a joy to ride, especially for a single

upper intermediate rider -- she would be a great partner for a capable

teen or skilled adult rider. If you let her loose with the

trailer open, she will load herself, and look back like "come on! get

the stuff and let's go trail riding!!"

More details and videos can be found at…

Adoptable Horse of the Week - Hopeful from Bluebonnet Equine Humane Society

Hopeful is a grade dun mare approximately 10 years old. Hopeful was discovered abandoned with two other

mares, and were emaciated.
She is friendly and likes attantion. She's had kids on her back and

did fine when being led by an adult and she doesn't mind having an

adult sit on her back, but she's not broke to ride and did not know how

to move out with someone on her back. She's ready for someone willing

to…

Reward for info leading to the identification of the person(s) responsible for the abuse of Beau Jingles

We have a flyer available - please feel free to post it on other forums, or e mail to those you think might be interested.

When Beau was taken to Sunkissed Acres Rescue and Retirement, he was less than a one on the Henneke scale. He was four years old, and so starving, and so weak, he ate gravel if you did not hold up hay to him. Please help us identify who was responsible for Beau's deplorable condition, so that he did not suffer in vain.…

RADAR Update!

This is the latest update on how Radar is doing. Thank you to all who emailed their concern and positive thoughts! We are VERY appreciative of the contributions toward his vet bill and hope to have it paid soon!!!!

We were worried through the night as we got more rain. I had put a light blanket on Radar but it seemed to bother him quite a bit. He was grouchy because he wasn't feeling well and because his vision is compromised, I guess he wasn't sure what the blanket was? He kept… Continue

Update on Sunkissed Acres' abandoned horse - now Mr. America Beau Jingles! - rest in peace, sweet boy!

In 50 years, Lori from Sunkissed Acres has never seen a more thin horse. Three shoes, not terribly old. Feet trimmed certainly within the last few months. Eye removal, professionally done. Wearing a rope halter, still clean. This horse had clearly been abandoned in the bush. The vet and Lori decided that this poor, young horse was hemmed up in someone's pen or field, probably a small pasture with no water or grass - even more devastating considering the recent bitter cold in that part of… Continue

A destitute horse at Sunkissed acres Rescue and Retirement (Summerville GA)

Donations can be made by visiting www.sunkissedacres.com

According to the department of agriculture, this horse simply walked out of the bush onto the highway, and they asked asked Sunkissed to take him on. The vet aged this horse between four and five years of age. He has three shoes - possibly from last year. An old injury, but not lame. He is missing an eye.

He is the skinniest horse Sunkissed has had to date. They are… Continue

AND A BIG THANK YOU TO UNCLE JIMMY!!

Sadly, one of Uncle Jimmy’s horses was grinched in the Chronicle of the Horse Forums Horse Treat Secret Santa. We volunteered to be a degrincher, and was assigned Uncle Jimmy. But what Uncle Jimmy had planned to do – since, after all, his horses are hardly lacking for treats! – was donate whatever was sent to him to a less fortunate horse – one at an equine rescue. And, knowing that the needs of rescue horses may be unique, he offered instead to donate a very generous check to one of the… Continue
