Louie, our latest rescue update!

Louie is making so much progress! He is now a "pocket pony"...it is hard to believe that just a month ago he would not look at us. Now he is the first one to greet me at the gate! He nuzzles and gives kisses! Today he got his feet done and was a good boy! Every day he makes progress! I lunged him and he now stands for baths and fly spray! Update on Louie, one of our rescues!

We picked Louie up 2 weeks ago today. He is a 3 year old TB gelding who was starved so badly that he is the size of a yearling.

When we picked him up, I compared him to an autistic child. All he knew his entire life was abuse, neglect and starvation. He would not look at you and if you looked at him, he would turn away. Starting and running a 501(c)3, or how to use up all your free time (19 April 2010)

After the heady success of what was to be our first fundraiser, Colleen and I agreed that we wanted to keep it going - and so, Special Horses was "born." Hurricane Ike hits Habitat for Horses

During this emergency the efforts of our volunteers have made a powerful impact on the livestock community of Galveston County. While the west end of Galveston Island is on the uphill side of the recovery, Bolivar is just now becoming accessible.
