Introduction

Hi there! My name is Darcy Peterson. I'm 34 years old and was recently introduced to competitive riding by a very good friend. I'm hooked!

I'm currently without a ride, but do have an older mare, Dandy, whom I have retired from riding. I hope to be able to find a horse of my own next year to compete on. For now, I've been fortunate to be able to catch rides with my friend and have volunteered at several rides.

I've had horses off and on throughout my life since I was 13. I am an equine artist and currently do commissioned drawings in charcoal for family, friends and clients. Pretty much anything horse related you can count on me to be involved in! Glad to be here!

Thank you so much for the welcome!! I have ridden in two competitive trail rides, my first was a one-day STC competitive trail clinic in Stillwater, Ok (16 miles) and the second was a NATRC ride (I believe it was around 25 miles total for the weekend) at the Six-O Ranch in Cleburne, Texas. I've volunteered at several rides to get a feel for the competition itself and have enjoyed every minute of it!

Hi Darcey, welcome to Barnmice. I would love to see some of your work. I love to see someone elses work, I dabble in drawing and painting but have not kept it up seriously for years. Once I retired I just laid downt he pencils and paints and hopped up in the saddle and here I am. lol I know you will enjoy this website, it is great.

Hi there! It's great to meet a fellow artist! I've uploaded a couple of my more recent drawings. It's been very enjoyable getting to know people and their pets. I'm like you, I sort of ditched the artist thing last year when I got hooked on the competitive trail scene! I'm picking it back up again mostly at the request of a couple of friends who recently lost their pets. Great to meet you!
