Profile Information

About Me:
My world revolves around horses - professionally & personally.

I'm the resident shopping queen on the site - running the barnmice gift shop - which means I get to spend my days shopping for fabulous products from all over the world for you to enjoy(it's my perfect job!).

When not in the office, I enjoy having a go at all riding disciplines but my main interest is dressage. I'm also a little bit obsessed with Sport Horse Breeding :-) especially Hanoverians & I'm proud to own 3 fabulous horses, all bred in the UK.

Confusingly, 2 are almost identical full brothers & their stable names are podgy, pg & p, so it gets a little confusing, thank goodness for stable name plates when other people are looking after them for me!

normal service will resume shortly - this is what's distracting me from the office....

My favorite horse :-) This is Podge aka Provence, my baby Hanoverian in his 7th week under saddle (he managed to get a couple of weeks on the subs bench with silly knocks in the field). He is so much fun to ride & I'm not looking forwards to Monday when it's back to work &a… Continue

Merry Christmas Everyone!

My fridge is full, the last of my online shopping arrived today (nothing like cutting it fine!) & I'm looking forward to a few days of good food, great company & lots & lots of riding :-) I hope everyone has a lovely festive season & those of you with yards full of horses still manage to take some time off to enjoy. Why a Jack Russell is this girls office essential!

Monty dog has gone on his hols to Wales over Christmas but in his absence I am being ably assisted by Mini, our Jack Russell terrier. He is very cute but also very naughty! However, at this time of year he is proving very useful. One of my suppliers really let me down & was late shipping my order, which meant that lots of people might not have got their gifts in time for Christmas. I threw a minor tantrum & asked that the delivery was given priority shipping & was told that I was t… Continue

The men start shopping

The past couple of days has been a frenzy of order packing here as the men across the land who are lucky enough ;-) to have horsey wives & girlfriends realise that it is less than a week (!!) until Christmas. Poor things always sound super stressed on the phone but are soothed once I assure them that they have chosen a nice gift that will be there in time for Christmas & beautifully wrapped so all they need to do is get it under the tree! Personally I'm slightly anxious that none of th… Continue

famous! we're in Horse & Hound this week :-)

Just had a chance to grab a cup of coffee & a quick peak at Horse&Hound magazine (which is the big weekly horse magazine for you non UK folk) to find that the Barnmice Gift Shop is in their pick of the best websites for last minute holiday shopping! I'm now offically famous ;-) as the "queen of shops" & they mentioned our very cunning "drop a hint button" & personal shopper services. So if you have a gift giving dilemma then please let me know. It doesn't have to be a horsey gi… Continue

Hello Chris

Sorry this message is so late. I am not always on the site. Sometimes I think the computer is attached to my hip as I work all on a computer and then come home and view some more.

Thank you for your post on the Baroque group. I own a dun Lusitano. He is 5 years old. Unfortunately I notice a bit of gray coming through. I think he will eventually turn gray as he gets older. I wanted a gray, got a dun. The one nice thing about having a dun is that he covers the dirt well.

Love your pictures, especially the one on the beach. I have yet to ride on the beach. One of the things I would like to do.

Hi Chris...thank you for your comments re the Micklem Multibridle. It is truly designed from the skull of the horse - from the inside out - because I am only too well aware that so many horses suffer from cranked up cavesson and flash nosebands, when the sensitive tissue on the inside of the mouth is squashed and bruised and lacerated between the protruding outer edge of the upper jaw molars and the noseband on the outside, and from too low dropped nosebands which often fracture the fragile nosebones. Look at the picture of the skull on my web site. Having found the right design for this it was a no brainer that it would also work wonderfully as a lunge cavesson or bitless bridle as well as a standard bridle. We need exert our influence as coaches and ensure we have better fitted tack. Regards, William PS The Micklem bridle has exceeded all my expectations...horses go so well in it and I my smile gets bigger!

Hi Chris,
As a Trigger Point Myotherapist, I check for range of motion, look for tp's (knots within the muscle), use various techniques to reduce these knots that can storten range of motion. Then apply stretching and exercises to re educate the muscle memory. Thats the short of it. I am currently working on a website, www.rosehillfarm.ca should be up and running within the week.
I dont know of any certified TPM's in the UK, mostly in the US as that is where the schooling is. I am one of 3 in Canada.
Hmmm maybe I should come to the UK and do some clinics? that would be a lot of fun, and I have never been there.
