Hi Susanne,
Welcome to the group, and welcome to America if you are recently relocated from Germany. :-)

Sad to hear that Jan, at least you can ride a bit. How did you do it? Starting to look like it might rain by the end of april, that will be nice to settle the dust. Cheers Geoffrey

Hi, everyone: I broke my right wrist March 17 in a stable accident. It's pinned and casted, and I am back riding (walk/trot only) until the end of April, so typing is a real challenge, hence my total lack of activity in this group! I hope you're all enjoying either spring or fall weather, depending on your hemisphere of residence!

Thanks Geoffrey, that's very valid. My thoughts on that are, however, that it's not ultimately practical to pay the money and take the time to go through the courses. I do believe in the principal! Absolutely and if I could see that the coaches being turned out were quality instructors and competitors in their own regard, it would definitely be incentive for me, but I do not see the benefit. So, for me personally, I don't feel any inclination to becoming certified - aside from the cost saving benefit on coaching insurance.

Now, please understand that this is only my personal experience and opinion that I'm sharing. I am not condeming anyone who wishes to become a certified coach. As I said, I do believe the principal of the program is wonderful, I just do not see the benefit for myself personally.

Well Shimmer E, You are not all that different, it is very easy to critisise the system from outside, alot of people do in this country too. However if you don't think the standard is high enough the only way to change it is from the inside. Become a coach ! Last year we had a national conference in Sydney, and we all had a say and we had progress because we were involved. I just think it's not very helpful having people of your standard, who obviously have something to offer, outside the system.

Well, I guess I'm a little different...
I'm not a certified anything coach. I would consider myself more of a mentor anyways. I have never advertised for clients or students, but have been asked to teach. I am an FEI level rider and trainer and I do love to teach.

I believe the idea of the coaching levels in Canada are a great principal, but am honestly very disappointed in the local certified coaches I have encountered. I am certainly not saying I'm a fantasticly gifted coach, I've never claimed to be. But I would just hope for a little better from the local certified coaches I've encountered.

Now, this is just my experience and only my opinion. I'm not cutting the program, just expressing my views.
