Great Comment Geoffrey - never a truer word spoken - we should all never stop training or learning - that way we also continue to hopefully improve our own knowledge base and skill! cheers Michelle B

G'day all, I am also a Level 1 Coach from Australia living in a rual area. I gained my accreditation in "92" ,so it was'nt to expensive. It was something I felt I needed to do , as I was teaching quite a bit at the time so I didn't realy consider the cost to much. I think if people are considering coaching I feel you must take the long term view in recouping your costs. To be perfectly frank, those costs are going to be ongoing anyway if people are serious about being the best coach thay can be. I know I don't want add up the cost since I gained my ticket , the figure would be frightening! I think the best advice I can give aspiring coaches is to compete as much as you can, watch as many other coaches as you can, ask as many questions as you can, and remember the only dumb question is the one you don't ask. Cheers Geoffrey

Hey Everyone. I am a Level 1 coach in Australia who lives in a rural area and it did cost an absolute bomb to gain my accreditation. However I am not short on students and I just love my work!!! I am really fortunate to be able to work at something I adore which supports my horsey habit. I teach full time and am in the process of upgrading to the next level of qualification as a dressage specialist.

Hi -everyone in Australia our system is slightly different you have to become an Introductory Coach first then you can go on and specialise and become a level 1 in a variety of fields- the cost is expensive, and I know it will take a long time for me to recoup the money I spent on getting my accreditation - but without it you cant get insurance.
I am thrilled though that all the hard work is done and it is something I will always have. I only teach part-time as I have a small acreage to look after and that keeps me very busy. - So the monetary returns arent huge.

Hey Jan & Linda. Any advice for an aspiring Coach II? Right now it is more a riding goal for me rather than a career move since I have a career, two small kids and 4 horses to ride.

Hello, everyone. I'm a certified instructor for beginners located in the Kelowna BC, and I specialize in beginner riders (up to 2'6 jump and first level test). I love to teach and feel my teaching background with UBC and science opportunites for kids has allowed my to be creative and interactive with my students. I also enjoy competition, both for myself (dressage) and with my clients. Hope to learn lots from you guys too!

Hello to all! I am based in Sharon, Ontario (1/2 North of Toronto near Newmarket) and have been an Equine Canada Coach II since 1989 and also an Equine Canada Course Conductor/Examiner since 1990. I have a background in hunter/jumper, equitation and dressage and coach full time. I mentor, train, ride, coach, give clinics throughout the province, judge and also provide training to the Toronto Police Mounted Unit (for the past 15 years). In between taking my students to Trillium hunter/jumper and National level dressage shows, I show dressage myself when I have any spare time! I am also a member of Toronto Cadora and write articles for their Newsletter "Track Right", published quarterly.

Hi Everyone. I am an EC Level I english coach working toward my Level II in dressage. I live in a relatively remote location in central BC so having other coaches to chat with is great!
