Dressage has not only changed my life, it has made my life what it is. Many years ago a young instructor suggested that I should teach because apparently I had a simple way of explaining the complicated. Since then I have opened my own barn, developed a solid teaching and training philosophy, taught clinics and lessons, boarded horses and began breeding my beloved Andalusian horses. Dressage is a life journey for me and I sure am enjoying the ride!

How about mandy's topic--how dressage has changed your life? :-)

Mandy--Welcome!! It is so nice to hear, so eloquently, how dressage has changed someone's life! Thanks for sharing that, and I hope you enjoy the forum!
Slc2--methinks thou dost protest too much. Chiro was just a suggestion, and then the suggester dropped it. It would be good to have another topic.....

I am so very exciting to see a dressage group! As a kid, I was the werido who loved dressage while everyone else was jumping.
The beauty and grace of properly done dressage is breath taking and awe insipiring. I lov ehow in this spor tthere are few corners that can be cut- you need to establish a good working relationship with your mount if you want to succeed in even the most basic of levels. Dressage changed my life- in riding and in 'the real world'.
A thank you and a kudos to those who support it!

My stallion recieved a well deserved Kick early into the winter to his right shoulder- I thought it was broken and did the exrays etc and it was just horridly bruised. So I started using the tens unit every other day for 3 weeks on his shoulder while he stood tied,
and I also used arnica creme on his shoulder- rubbing it in every so gently, and arnica tabs for the internal bruising.
6 weeks later he was his old self and totally sound.
Tens unit- arnica, works for me , worked fro him- darn I sound like a commercial. BTW, the tens unit is much better than a heating pad for a horses tired back sprains, if your horse will tolerate the electric current... it is incredible. Now my stud will stand still while I get it all ready to use.
As I am one who has been thru multi levels of neuro surgery- on my neck and back and hip, and every type of epidural, hypnosis, and chiro for pain management- the tens unit relieves so much stress
and pressures and the aches leave- truly . A tens unit can be bought for about 100.00 or more- depending on what you want and need.

Thanks for the infor on the tens unit. I have one at home from when I came down with Bells Palsey, recommended by my chiropractor. I have been getting terrible head aches and tightness in my shoulders, guess what I am going to start using again. Much better for you that Advil.

I have a tens unit for my headaches and my neck and shoulder spasms. I use it 2 x a week. it helps. A L o T.
I have had neuro surgery on my neck and have 2 plates and 5 screws so chiropractic is out of the question for me andIi do have epidurals done when the pain gets so intense it feels like it is going to fall off.
Whatever works.works.

I recently sent out my January newsletter which has a great lesson on how to breath in the way that supports riding, moving, balance, and core strength. I send out a newsletter each month and each one has a movement lesson for riders, and especially for dressage riders. Newsletters also contain tips to improve your seat, clinic information, and often something about riding and biomechanics, neurology, psychology or physiology. They are not just fluff or sales but contain practical information that will help your riding. Often there is a coupon too! Sit The Trot! NEWSLETTER SIGNUP

hey slc2- have your tried chiropractors for your head aches?? my daughter got intense migraines after being slammed into a fence several times in one day. the neurologist eventually suggested 'alternative' medicine, and after osteopathy, acupuncture, etc the chiropractor was able to aleviate them.
