EBONY is an Elegant Draft Cross 8 Yr old Black/Bay 16.1hh Mare. CSHA approved for Breeding. 4 Years of Professional Dressage and Event Training. Top dressage scores at every event this year - posting consistently in the 7's, 8's and 9's. Very calm and easy to ride. Ridden by a 16 yr old boy in their first season with wins at their first two events and top dressage scores. No vices or health issues. Great to trailer and great manners. I rode my frist draft cross at college and fell in love with them right away. the gelding i rode was a Percheron/QH cross and was the most sweetest horse in the barn. He was the perfect beginner horse: wide and steady, calm and extremely lovable. i learned to jump on him and never once feared of falling mid-air. since i started riding a draft cross i've been hooked!

Sounds fancy with all that Arab. The belgian crosses tend to be the kindest but also the least athletic, Although with so much arab I bet you dont have to worry about that. Percherons are built more lean and tall than most draft breeds, as a result of early infusions of Arab when they were used as war horses. I favor Thoroughbred blood for refinement, but It is necessary to ectract my dun factor and creme genetics from QH.

Well done, Ferdinand, we will be interested to follow your horses and their progress.

One of my two-year-old brood-mares-to-be is a chestnut turning rose grey or ... She is a registered half Arab on her dam's side and Arab/Percheron/Paint on her sire's side. Her half sister has Thoroughbred and Belgian on the dam's side. The temperments of some of these mixes are lovely. My farrier, who dislikes warmbloods and Quarter Horses almost equally for their temperments (inbreeding in North America, according to him) is a great proponent of mixes. I am very pleased with how athletic these two big girls are compared to, among others some Arabs and a Thoroughbred or two I have owned or showed.

That's Bugsy in the photo with me. He's Clydes/QH cross and a wonderful boy! Now at 5 he's really coming into himself as a dressage and trail horse.
I'm sitting on my Feldenkrais table, I teach riders to ride in balance with the motion of their horse, without tension or holding that inhibits the horse's movement.
I also teach Ride Without Fear clinics. See info at http://sitthetrot.com/RideWoFear.htm

Thank-you Lori, I am very lucky to have a horse like that. So different from the nuts & OT's I have owned before.
Love this group....why didn't I think of it?

Mine is a Percheron X Morgan [ she's in the pic]. She is the smartest horse I have ever ridden. We are working on second level dressage, but I jumped her in hunter classes [ ahemmm and actually WON !!] , and I trail ride all over the area we live. Never have I met a kinder mare, but she can be feisty too....love it. She has been, bar none, the easiest horse to train. Saddle fit was a nightmare, but good old Stubben came through, and we are on our way. She turned 9 last week.
I board my horse, and the barn recently sold. The new owners told me today, that the best horse on the property......was Madi !!! How nice !
