"Even though I am old enough and experienced enough to know better, I fell in love with a small badly debilitated mare at a horse leasing facility last March. I was looking for a well-trained stock horse to take on safe trail rides—and lease…"

Thank you Bakers!

After my unfortunate experience at another area tack shop, I would like to say that the people at Baker’s were wonderful to me this past weekend. I had bought Molly mare another Rhino Wug, a heavy this time, and it was a tad too tight, although the same size as the light and the medium I got at Baker’s before....I took it back and without question the women there laid it out and measured it and ended up measuring at least three more and cheerfully repackaging them, which everyone knows is a…See More

Thank you Horseware

My little QH mare, Molly, came to me last spring with a big bump on her shoulder that my vet and I just assumed was an old (and cold) injury. After about a month, it opened up and became a nasty weeping thing. Even after it was operated on, it is still active. Thankfully, my barn owner had an old Rhino Wug she suggested I use and I have bought two more this season. They don’t bother the bump at all like many other rugs that sit right on the scapula. Molly is happy in her lovely blankets and I…See More

"We did discuss the price: $90. Then he said he sold it for $40 and offered me nothing. It was a very upsetting thing."

"They should have discussed the price with you not decided what it was to be sold for... I thought consignment was like a duo decision..."

I had a very nasty experience lately with an established tack store. Took in a nearly new expensive blanket to sell on consignment and dropped in a few weeks later to be told the blanket was NOT what I said it was and was sold for $40. The owner came close to accusing me of lying. I was so stunned, I left, but not before he volunteered to get it back and call me. What a surprise; I have heard nothing. This is a place I have patronized for 20 odd years. What is the matter with people in the…See More

Dressage saddle, wow!

I have a small Quarter Horse, a passive-aggressive mare that had been badly abused and was starved half to death when I got her seven months ago. From the beginning, she has disliked every Western saddle I have tried on her and is none too fond of my Jeffries Falcon Hawk either, even though it fit her fairly well. I have been tearing my hair out trying to figure out what to put on her back.…See More

Thanks for the commiseration. In hind sight, he did not look at it when I brought it in (I should have insisted) and simply wrote down the info. I gave him and then later said it was false. Since the blanket is MIA, there is nothing I can do to repudiate his claims that it was not in good shape and not the type I said it was....I would rather have donated it to a horse charity than have this happen.
