Many people struggle with an idea for life thinking everything would be easier if they only knew what they wanted to do; but even if you do have one it's not all plain sailing. In fact, the true…

You may have read my waffle about a week ago on how to move forwards from the current situation. Here is a follow up to my little pondering Question Mark series.

I have had a bit of time to quietly consider variety of options and it was really helpful to read other people's views too. One message especially made me realise what really needs doing. As much as I…

Pic. above: Saturday morning, breakfast at 11am and reading time - bliss :) Ricky convinced me to buy David Attenborough's biography and I am loving the book. Funny though, when you let your mind… Continue

If I were to measure the success of a 3-day weekend by the amount of cholesterol consumed, the amount of sunscreen spread, and amount of saddle oil transferred to my jeans, I would have to say the weekend was a success.
Saturday morning we had some errands to run and chores to do. We got to ride in the afternoon. Since it had been ten days or so since Jessie's "episode" we decided on a shakedown ride just to see how she was feeling. We did a fairly routine canal ride out to the…

One more day of work tomorrow and then off to a weekend in Wales with Ricky. I really can't wait. No jodphur boots for 2 days and a total rest to switch a light bulb on...
I would like to thank you to those who read my yesterday's post and commented either on here or via Facebook messages. I don't know anybody who is truly doing what I am doing with no real back up so it's a bit like blind leading the blind. Therefore writing it all down and "thinking aloud" is what is very helpful and…

The closer I get to the Academy going live the more I ask myself, where do I go from here...I've received some very good feedback from all I shared the drafts of the Programmes with and I'm both anxious and excited at the thought of bringing it all to life and spreading the word. It will take a long time to make it into what I see in my head it could be but I…

We must spend more time walking in the shoes of our horses to realize how we can bring a better quality of life to our equine friend. Through the process of finding a better quality of life for our horses can we find a higher consciousness and a better quality of life for ourselves.
I want people to love horses because of their spirit, depth of character and the magnetic connection we share with them rather than the service we expect from them. What stands in the way of… Continue

My only American friend in Miami in the Paso fino business commented, "Things are getting better in the paso breed it seems. Alotta trainers using boots and snaffle bits on their horses!" Paso Fino (World) Spectrum Show was held in Miami this past weekend.

Happy Birthday! A year filled with high energy is in store for you. You have made quite a few changes last year, and you will benefit from them enormously in the coming months. Your horse may surprise you even more in the coming months, he is a smart one.
Take a few…

So you've tried dressage, maybe even attended your first dressage show, and now you're hooked. It’s one of the fastest growing events in equestrian sports, so you are not alone. When it comes to making the switch to dressage, not all horses are created equal. Some are better suited conformationally and in…

I want to share with you my way of getting a foal comfortable with humans. I don't believe in imprint training (meaning handling the foal right after birth) for several reasons; one of them being that it's not the most effective. Studies, both official and my own, has shown that the best way to get a foal confident with people is to kiss up to mommy and let the her show the foal that people are great. Being willing to wait just a little bit is a fantastic shortcut!
If you have a foal…
