The Trouble with Being a Horse has just won the NABE Spring 2011 Pinnacle Book Achievement Award for Juvenile Fiction! I'm very excited about winning this award and it's helping to open up doors all over. Several book stores and tack stores in the US are interested in carrying it, which will be a great addition to the stores that already have it in Canada.
So far, the reviews have been (mostly) very positive and it's not just young…

With all the hype and previews of the movie War Horse swirling around me, I was instantly curious about this story. Any horse movie usually catches my attention, and I can't wait to see it. Judging from the movie previews I decided that I should read the book first...just in case there were any very sad scenes I would be ready! Truthfully, I needed to know if the horse died. I don't tend to handle animals dying very well...ha.
This book written by Michael Morpurgo was a quick…

My book about a girl who turns into a horse, "The Trouble with Being a Horse," is really going places! Since getting US distribution the book has been picked up by a few chain stores and has gotten quite a lot of reviews! I have to say I'm pretty pleased that the book is liked by both horse people and non-horse people (the true test!). Here's what Readers Favorite had to say:

I recently read Lynn Reardon's book "Beyond the Homestretch: What Saving Racehorses Taught Me About Starting Over, Facing Fear, and Finding My Inner Cowgirl." I thought it was wonderful! In the book, Lynn details accounts of individual horses and their stories. I found the stories fascinating and heartworming. I loved meeting the horses and learning about each one's special personality. From the snake wrangler to the ranch manager, you will find each horse delightful. This book clearly…

Barbaro was a Kentucky Derby winner that caught the hearts of thousands, and his story is beautifully told in "Greatness and Goodness: Barbaro and His Legacy." Alex Brown had the privilege of being a part of both Barbaro's story and his legacy. He gives firsthand accounts of stories about Barbaro from his birth to his untimely death. The Promise in 'Plan B'

The Promise in ‘Plan B’ is the first inspirational book that inspired me to finish it. This is because Ms. Farr’s book is more personal than others and not at all pompous; I mean her horse helped write it. She, Mary, not the horse, certainly relates…

In her latest book, Riding Through Thick & Thin: Make Peace with Your Body and Banish Self-Doubt - In and Out of the Saddle, author Melinda Folse asks a question that gets to the heart of her thesis: "How can we move beyond any concerns we have about how we look or what we weigh or whether or not our breeches are too tight and just get that feeling?" This is not a self-help book strictly targeted at plus-sized equestrians; it is a life-changing guide…

It’s been a great year at Infinity Farm. I’m thrilled to say no one died. It’s kind of a miracle–all ages and infirmities considered. I wandered through the memories of the year, looking for a stellar moment to share with you, one that was inspirational and would reflect the best of us. There were a pile to pick from, but in the end, it was a no-brainer.

Remember our barn-rat, Hannah?…
